Disneyland has revealed plans for an upcoming attraction inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. The new addition will be based on the underwater worlds shown in Avatar: The Way of Water and future films. Disney officials said the ride will give visitors an unprecedented experience on Pandora, the moon where much of the Avatar story takes place.
Ali Rubin, an imagineer who designs Disney park attractions, showed concept art at the D23 Expo event. She said the attraction will transport guests to the “wide-open seas” of Pandora. Riders will be able to explore Pandora’s ecosystems and discover the beauty and danger of the alien ocean environment.

The cinematic utopia of Pandora is coming to California.
During D23’s Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that a new attraction inspired by the Avatar franchise is coming to Disneyland.
Although Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida already boast its own Pandora—The World of Avatar based on James Cameron‘s original 2009 movie, the new Anaheim attraction will draw inspiration from Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and future installments.
Imagineer Ali Rubin revealed concept art of the upcoming attraction, which will take guests “on the adventure of a lifetime in search of majestic natural wonders that can only be found on Pandora and the beauty – and danger – that come along with the journey. This new and thrilling excursion will bring all the action, excitement, and wonder of Avatar, taking guests all the way to the wide-open seas of Pandora.”

Pandora is coming to Disneyland, but it won’t be a clone of the Walt Disney World Avatar land. Details are sparse, but it’s based on the second and upcoming third Avatar movies.
From the Disney Parks Blog…
As Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we’re venturing further into Pandora with a new destination at Disney California Adventure. While Pandora—The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is based on Oscar-winner James Cameron’s “Avatar” film, this new destination draws inspiration from “Avatar: The Way of Water” and upcoming Avatar films to bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way.
No opening date has been announced, and neither have any attraction details. But here’s the released concept art, which does seem to show what seems to be a variation of the Na’vi River Journey.

We may have been treated to some official footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps yesterday evening (albeit through unofficial means), but the latest set footage - once again taken from afar - is also generating a fair bit of buzz among fans.
While we'd assumed Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm was being filmed with the young Franklin Richards in her arms after taking a fall, it instead appears they're lying in bed.
That raises several questions, including why the scene would be shot in the open. Perhaps the Invisible Woman is comforting the child by using her force field powers to float around outside? That's one way to settle a baby!
It's tough to say from this distance but we're sure the video will generate even more fan theories...

The year 2022 in film, looking back, was a year of Grandiosity. Yes, Grandiosity, with a capital G. In this year’s Best Picture category, we have such hits as ‘Avatar 2: The Way of Water,’ ‘Elvis,’ ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘All Quiet on the Western Front,’ and ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ whose title itself even nods to grandiosity. Even Todd Field’s ‘Tár’ has a sense of epic proportions to it. And then comes Damien Chazelle’s ‘Babylon’– a film of immense proportion excitedly dreamed up by the mind behind the multi-Oscar-winning ‘Whiplash’ and ‘La La Land,’ and packed with some of the biggest stars of our time – Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, to casually name a few. A gigantic opus of a film clocking in at three hours and nine minutes long, reaching new heights in Chazelle’s oeuvre, audacious and ambitious as ever – and it flops! With a...

With three Academy Awards and some of the biggest box office champs of all time under his belt, James Cameron has certainly found a way to blend art and commerce to great effect. Let’s take a look back at all nine of his films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1954 in Ontario, Canada, Cameron cut his teeth with a variety of on-set jobs, most notably as a special effects artist. Although he technically made his directorial debut with the creature feature “Piranha II: The Spawning” (1982), he truly burst onto the scene with the sci-fi hit “The Terminator” (1982), which cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as a futuristic cyborg sent on a mission to kill a young woman (Linda Hamilton) before she can give birth to the messiah.
Cameron further cemented his reputation as a master of action with such adrenaline-pumping titles as “Aliens” (1986), “The Abyss” (1989), “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991) and “True Lies...

Fresh news all the way from Pandora: the film formerly known as Avatar 3 is now known by another name. Disney’s D23 Expo event, currently taking place in Anaheim, California, featured a panel packed with major updates from the studio’s various brands – and during the three-hour presentation, none other than James Cameron turned up to bring some updates from his Na’vi pals. Most notably, revealing that the follow-up to 2022’s Avatar: The Way Of Water will officially be titled Avatar: Fire And Ash.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Cast Shares Video Message At D23 As The Team's Costumes Are Revealed

Marvel Studios brought a message from the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps to D23 and it features a first look at the costumes which will be worn by Marvel's First Family in the upcoming reboot.
Only Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm is suited up, but we get a great look at how the design has evolved since the concept art teaser dropped. It's a cool design, and while we'd imagine this is just one of at least a couple of costumes the team wears, it's hard to find fault with the 1960s-inspired aesthetic (especially with that iconic logo front and centre).
As best we can tell, Pedro Pascal is also in costume; however, he's in clothing that's appropriate for The Fantastic Four: First Steps' setting rather than a superhero uniform.
Back to Quinn, though, and it seems he's wearing a blonde wig as Johnny to bring the hotheaded...

No new footage was revealed at the event, but the filmmaker did promise that, "You'll see a lot more Pandora that you never saw before. "There are new cultures and settings and creatures, and new biomes," Cameron added. "You will see a lot more of Pandora, the planet, that you’ve never seen before. The new film is not what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want."

We love "Avatar," don't we folks? Writer/director James Cameron sure does — he's devoting a massive chunk of his career to making movies in that franchise, and while we can joke about long delays between movies all we want, Jimmy C is getting the last laugh because audiences seem to love these films. We've said it before and we'll say it again — never bet against Jim Cameron. While some people still scoff at the idea of the blockbuster filmmaker continuing to make "Avatar" movies, the fact remains that these movies become huge, huge hits. It's also worth noting that the films are only improving — not only was the technology for "Avatar: The Way of Water" superior to the first film, but the film itself was a huge step up in terms of emotional storytelling. In short, Cameron knows what he's doing. And he plans to show us even more stuff.

There are few film franchises where a simple title reveal is enough to excite audiences. Avengers, Star Wars and James Bond among them. And then there’s Avatar, which stands as a class as its own.
While the franchise doesn’t have many films to its name, the first Avatar (2009) stands as the highest grossing film of all time, and sequel Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) holds the record for the third highest grossing movie ever.
So when James Cameron announced that his third Avatar will be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, it was enough to spark big applause at D23 Friday.
“There are new cultures and settings and creatures, and new biomes. You will see a lot more of Pandora, the planet, that you’ve never seen before,” said Cameron of the movie. “The new film is not what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want.”

“Avatar” director James Cameron and stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington revealed first official title for the third “Avatar” film on Friday during the D23 expo: “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
While Cameron didn’t preview any footage, he did showcase some concept art from the film, including Neytiri (Saldaña) riding a banshee, what appeared to be giant airships, and a first look at the fearsome Ash People of the Na’vi, covered in ghost-like soot and otherworldly masks as they dance around a giant fire pit.
“You’ll see a lot more Pandora that you never saw before,” Cameron said. “It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before,” Cameron said during the presentation. “We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”

“Avatar 3” is officially called “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” James Cameron took a trip to Anaheim on Saturday to appear at Disney’s D23 convention and unveil the “Avatar 3” title to an audience of 15,000.
The sequel follows 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the decade-in-the-making sequel to 2009’s “Avatar.” The second “Avatar” film grossed over $2.3 billion at the box office and ensured Cameron’s intention of filling out the franchise with four sequels will likely come to fruition.
“It’s so gratifying to feel that love for this world of Pandora and these characters that my team has been working on for over 18 years,” Cameron said at D23. “I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on for ‘Avatar 3.’ Every day when I’m reviewing new shots, it’s like Christmas morning. The same photographer who recently provided us with an early look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps UK set has today posted photos showing an actor they believe is Vanessa Kirby.
She's blonde and appears to be wearing the same blue costume we saw in that first look concept art for the reboot, so we'd say there's a good chance this is indeed the Mission: Impossible star. If not, then it's likely a stunt double.
We're unsure whether cameras were rolling but it looks like the Invisible Woman is cradling a baby as she falls to the ground.
That baby could be significant too because there have been rumblings for a while now that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will feature Reed and Sue's young son, Franklin Richards. On the page, he's an incredibly powerful mutant with the ability to reshape and create realities, potentially making him a crucial part...

Ram Pothineni’s Double Ismart Secures Lengthy Runtime and ‘A’ Certificate: Could This Impact Box Office Collections Significantly? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
The much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster iSmart Shankar, titled Double iSmart, is set to hit screens on Independence Day. The film, which reunites the dynamic duo of Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh, has generated considerable buzz with the addition of Sanjay Dutt to the cast.
However, the film’s recent censor certification has raised eyebrows. Double iSmart has been slapped with an ‘A’ certificate due to its intense violence and strong language. Additionally, the film’s runtime clocks in at a hefty 2 hours and 42 minutes, significantly longer than its predecessor.
Naturally, concerns have been raised about the potential impact of these factors on the film’s box office prospects. While some trade analysts predict that the ‘A’ rating and extended duration could hinder the film’s commercial success,...

This morning’s third quarter earnings report revealed that Disney’s combined streaming services are finally turning a profit but the Mouse House’s legal costs are still pretty pricey too.
Specifically, $65 million pricey.
“In the current quarter, the Company recorded a charge of $65 million related to a legal ruling,” Disney said in its just released Q3 earnings summary. “In the prior-year quarter, the Company recorded a charge of $101 million related to a legal ruling, largely offset by a $90 million gain on its investment in DraftKings, Inc. (DraftKings Gain), which was sold in the prior-year quarter,” Disney went on to state.
Disney did not respond to request for comment and clarification on what the Q3 2024 “legal ruling” was related to or who the $65 million was paid out to. If the company does provide information, this post will be updated.

Kate Winslet will be feted with the Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award at its upcoming 20th edition running from October 3 to 13.
Winslet will receive the award – paying tribute to her stellar career and filmography spanning films such Titanic to Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, The Reader, Sense and Sensibility and Avatar: The Way of Water – on October 7.
The ceremony will be followed by a screening of Ellen Kuras’s bio-pic Lee, in which Winslet stars as the war photographer Lee Miller, and acts as a co-producer.
Lee Miller’s son, Antony Penrose, and Lee co-producer Kate Solomon will also be in attendance.
“Kate Winslet is a true icon of cinema and shines through her versatility in big studio blockbusters as well as small indie productions. Her multifaceted choice of roles and her long Hollywood career make her a favourite with audiences of multiple generations,” said Zff Artistic Director Christian Jungen.

Work continues on The Fantastic Four: First Steps and two newly released set videos show the construction of the team's Excelsior launchpad, New York's Times Square, and possibly even the home of Ben Grimm, Yancy St.
These are massive sets, but likely a necessity given the reboot's unique aesthetic. Set on an alternate Earth, the movie takes place during the 1960s, albeit with a retro-futuristic style (no doubt thanks to how Marvel's First Family have changed their reality).
You'll notice that shipping containers have created a wall around the set and those will be to stop photographers or fans from catching any of the action. There will also be measures to stop drones like the one used to shoot these videos from hovering above.
However, if and when The Fantastic Four: First Steps does shoot on location, it's then we'll likely get a first look at Marvel Studios' take on the iconic superhero team.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, it was confirmed that Michael Giacchino will compose the score for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
He's no stranger to the MCU, or superheroes in general for that matter, after previously working on the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Batman (he also stepped behind the camera to make a splash as Werewolf by Night's director).
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a particularly interesting project for Giacchino because many of you will know him best for Pixar's The Incredibles franchise. Marvel's First Family heavily inspired those movies, so what does that mean for the composer's approach to Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny?
"They're similar and different in many, many ways," Giacchino acknowledged in an interview with Nerd Reactor. "There's definitely room for both in the world. Those are two where I'll have my feet in both of those.

Disney and Pixar's "Inside Out 2" continues to be the story of the year at the box office. The animated sequel has had an impressive run and, even if it had stopped making money weeks ago, it would still sit atop the rest of the competition as the highest-grossing movie of 2024. The cash keeps flowing, though, and the film keeps making its way deeper into the record books. Now, Pixar's latest has officially cracked the top 10 of all time, passing Marvel's seminal 2012 superhero blockbuster "The Avengers."
As of this writing, director Kelsey Mann's "Inside Out 2" has earned $1.524 billion worldwide, per Deadline. That total includes an astonishing $905.1 million overseas to go with $618.8 million domestically. That puts it at number 10 all time on the global box office chart, unadjusted for inflation. It most recently passed "Furious 7" ($1.515 billion) and, most importantly, "The Avengers," which shattered records by pulling in $1.52 billion globally in its day.

It’s actually next to impossible to forget the heart-stirring saga of Jack and Rose in James Cameron’s epic masterpiece, Titanic. Has there ever been a love story quite like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s characters in the 1997 film that has been hailed as a treasure while also being panned by many critics?

While the opening weekend gross of a film at the box office doesn’t mean everything, it tends to dictate the high profits of the film and popularity when it rakes in cash in the first few days of its theatrical release, especially globally. All of the films that hold slots in the 20 highest-grossing movies worldwide are part of franchises, with Marvel holding seven slots, Star Wars and Jurassic World holding two and Harry Potter movies holding two. The Fast and the Furious has two slots as well. Standalones within this list include Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Detective Chinatown 3 (2021) and The Battle at Lake Changjin (2021).
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) sits just outside the top 20 in the 21st slot. Barbie falls in the 30th slot on the list with $356,322,044 in its global opening weekend. Animated films within the top 30 include The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) at #377,200,000 and Frozen II...

In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the heroes are exiled to The Void, a wasteland where forgotten characters of 20th Century Fox’s Marvel films wander. The studio’s iconic logo lies decrepit and half-buried, a tombstone for a history of superhero films that came to an end with “The New Mutants,” released to poor reviews in 2020, a year after Disney’s 2019 acquisition of Fox.
The resurrection of that spandex-wearing menagerie of IP has led “Deadpool & Wolverine” to a $438 million global opening weekend, the largest the box office has seen since “Avatar: The Way of Water” at the end of 2022. Its $211 million domestic haul stands as the highest ever for an R-rated film, and after passing $500 million in less than a week, it’s in line to join “Joker” as only the second film with that rating to gross $1 billion globally.

R-rated movies have historically pushed boundaries, both creatively and financially. Today, we’re diving into the adrenaline-pumping world of these record-breaking films and their jaw-dropping opening weekends. Deadpool and Wolverine shatter records Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine set new benchmarks last weekend with an astonishing $444.1M worldwide and $211M domestic. Production on The Fantastic Four: First Steps began in London today and we now have the first photos from set. These appear to have been taken with a drone as we see the Baxter Building's "Excelsior" launch pad being constructed from above.
A recently revealed city map for this alternate reality 1960s New York City confirmed it sits adjacent to the Baxter Building and is presumably where the team takes off in the Fantasticar when setting off on adventures together.
That iconic "4" logo will glow blue in sunlight by the looks of it and, elsewhere, it appears Marvel Studios is constructing whole city streets. Given how unique this take on the Big Apple appears to be, this was likely the only option and makes more sense than shooting on location.
It's possible we'll eventually see the cast suited up, similar to when Deadpool & Wolverine was shooting in the UK. For now,...

For nine years now, Kate Winslet has been fighting to bring the story of Lee Miller to the screen – a near-decade that’s finally about to bear fruit. In a total switch-up from Mare Of Easttown and Avatar: The Way Of Water, Winslet will next be seen portraying Miller in Lee – which she’s also produced, venturing back to World War II to tell the story of the photographer who captured the likes of the Blitz, the concentration camp at Dachau, and the liberation of Paris for Vogue magazine. Miller’s legacy has long been waiting to be told; Winslet’s take was the one that was finally given the go-ahead by Miller’s only son.
For Winslet, the weight of telling this story – and showing the impact that Miller’s time in the war had on her life – was exactly why it was worth telling. “I wanted to try...

“Superhero fatigue” is a nebulous concept that for at least a decade now has cropped up whenever a blockbuster comic book movie underperforms — or flops. But in the last two years, as disappointment has become a new normal for DC and even mighty Marvel, so too have claims that superhero fatigue has finally set in.
With two exceptions, every superhero film released since the start of 2023 has disappointed. None have topped $400 million domestic box office or $1 billion globally, with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” coming closest and delivering solid box office totals. Three films failed to reach $100 million domestically, with “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” barely tipping over $50 million.
Then came Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Critics weren’t kind to the threequel, but those reviews didn’t matter to audiences. It debuted this week to a record-shattering $438 million global box office, the highest...

Deadpool & Wolverine Tears It Up At The Box Office With Record-Breaking $438 Million Opening Weekend

After recent 'rough times' for Marvel, this past weekend has been a real shot in the arm for the MCU. Over in San Diego, the studio enjoyed a triumphant return to Hall H at Comic-Con, unveiling amongst other things Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers' imminent return for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. And at the box office, Shawn Levy's hotly anticipated Deadpool trilogy capper Deadpool & Wolverine enjoyed a phenomenal opening weekend, taking $438.3 million worldwide for the biggest domestic and global open for an R-rated movie of all time. Check out Jackman's memeable reaction to the film's success below;
In the run-up to the release of Levy's threequel, star Reynolds described his film to Empire as "the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool," and fans have turned out en masse for not only the Merc With A Mouth's MCU debut and a long-awaited (not...

After just three days of release, Disney’s Marvel epic “Deadpool & Wolverine” is already one of the highest-grossing releases of the year.
The superhero sequel, which unites Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as their comic book personas, has generated $233 million at the international box office and $438 million globally. “Deadpool & Wolverine” stands behind only “Inside Out 2” ($1.5 billion), “Dune: Part Two” ($711 million), “Despicable Me 4” ($596 million), “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” ($567.6 million) and “Kung Fu Panda 4” ($545 million) in terms of worldwide ticket sales in 2024.
The film will easily rise on global charts in the coming weeks, but box office analysts are assessing if the third “Deadpool” has the momentum to clear the $1 billion mark. Even this early in its box office run, it seems safe to predict it’ll hit that benchmark. However, only one R-rated movie in history — 2019’s “Joker” with $1.07 billion globally — has joined the coveted billion-dollar club.

There was a time when movie studios rarely shared the footage screened in Hall H at Comic-Con with fans online.
However, when the Suicide Squad trailer almost immediately leaked in 2015, it forced Warner Bros.' hand (which was unprecedented at the time) and we've since grown used to those sneak peeks hitting social media right after their San Diego premieres.
Yesterday evening, Marvel Studios showcased Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Footage was shown from each of those movies, only for none of it to be released online!
It's just like old times today, though, as the early pre-production footage for the Fantastic Four reboot is currently doing the rounds on social media. While we're unable to share the footage with you here, it can be found on r/LeaksAndRumors.
In that, we see Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal is rocking grey temples) explaining parallel...

Marvel Studios showed some very early footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps at Comic-Con yesterday (you can read a full description here) and we now have a first look at the McU's Baxter Building!
The movie, which takes place in a retro-future '60s' setting, doesn't take place on Earth-616. However, with Marvel's First Family confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it's clear they're going to play a big role in the Multiverse Saga.
Whether the Sacred Timeline will get its own Baxter Building remains to be seen; we see here just how different the alternate reality New York looks, though, and the team's base is arguably way cooler than Avengers Tower.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman explained why this movie won't deliver yet another origin story.

Marvel Studios didn't drop any new artwork for The Fantastic Four during its Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, but the upcoming reboot does have an intriguing new title: The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Needless to say, with rumours swirling that we'll meet Franklin and Valeria Richards in the movie, we can't help wondering whether they're who that's referring to.
While filming isn't scheduled to begin until Tuesday (that's now confirmed), some very early test footage was shared exclusively with fans at the event which showed the heroes preparing for a space mission. At one point, Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards is teaching a science class with what's been described as "an old-school accent."
As expected, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will take place in an alternate reality New York City set in a retro/future 1960s.

It's astonishing to think that James Cameron, the mastermind behind FX-laden mega-blockbusters like "Titanic" and "Avatar," once made movies on the cheap. When Cameron made "The Terminator" back in 1984, he was able to assemble relatively low-rent effects to produce some pretty incredible visuals. In one scene, for instance, after actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was briefly on fire, Cameron needed his jacket to realistically smolder. Cameron didn't want to burn Schwarzenegger with anything pyrotechnic, so he threw some (inexpensive) acid onto Arnold's jacket. The dissolving material looked like smoke.
"Terminator" fans might also know the story of how Cameron needed a shot of the killer robot's glowing mechanical eyeball flickering out at the film's conclusion. The achieve the shot, Cameron bought a small red lightbulb at an electronics store, crushed it in between two pieces of styrofoam that he painted silver, and blew cigarette smoke into the frame. He filmed the scene in his garage.

Marvel Studios screened Deadpool & Wolverine for lucky fans in Hall H yesterday evening and, to wrap up Thursday's Comic-Con offerings, the streets of San Diego were lit up with an epic drone show.
That culminated with the surprise appearance of Galactus, The Fantastic Four logo, and a message for fans to stay tuned for even bigger reveals during Marvel Studios' panel this Saturday.
While The Fantastic Four has only recently started shooting, we're hearing that a sizzle reel is possible along with a first look at Marvel's First Family suited up. Back to this drone show and not only is this our first glimpse at the McU's Galactus, but it also serves as confirmation we're getting a comic-accurate take on the villain instead of another cloud!

Netflix has debuted a teaser trailer for the upcoming series ‘Kaos’ in which Jeff Goldblum plays the role of the all-powerful god, Zeus.
Zeus: King of the Gods, ruler of the world. He’s cruel, stylish and all-powerful.
That is until he’s not. From BAFTA-winning screenwriter and showrunner Charlie Covell (The End Of The F***ing World), Kaos is a bold, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology: exploring love, power, and life in the underworld.
Having long enjoyed his status as king of the gods, Zeus’s reign has never been truly threatened. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the god of gods – seeing signs everywhere – starts to dangerously self-destruct.
