“Wolfs,” the upcoming crime film that reunites George Clooney and Brad Pitt, is pivoting its theatrical release plan from a wide release to a limited one before it lands on Apple TV+. And though that may not sound like a vote of confidence, Apple has just announced a sequel for “Wolfs” before it’s even opened.
Jon Watts writes and directs “Wolfs,” and it was originally supposed to get a wide theatrical release on September 20 after first premiering at the Venice Film Festival. That release date is staying the same, but instead of getting a long run in theaters, Apple has also announced when it will drop on Apple TV+, one week later on September 27.

Apple Original Films is changing up its theatrical release strategy with “Wolfs,” the upcoming action comedy from “Spider-Man: No Way Home” director Jon Watts and starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, which has a sequel already greenlit.
Rather than a full theatrical exclusive run similar to the ones Apple has done for films like “Argylle” and “Fly Me to the Moon” in partnership with legacy studios, “Wolfs” will be released in theaters for a limited release on Sept. 20 before being released on Apple TV+ one week later Sept. 27.
It is unclear whether “Wolfs,” which has Sony Pictures attached as a distribution partner will continue to run in theaters after its streaming release or if it is set to run in theaters for one week only. TheWrap has reached out to Apple for comment and will update with any response.

Exclusive: Apple has pivoted on the Jon Watts-directed George Clooney & Brad Pitt starrer Wolfs, which makes its world premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival. Apple Original Films has made a deal with Watts to write, direct and produce a sequel vehicle for Clooney and Pitt.
At the same time, Apple has changed its plan for Wolfs to have a wide theatrical release before it lands on Apple TV+. It instead will receive a limited theatrical release September 20, and then debut globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 27.
Apple confirmed the release pivot, but sources said it does not signal a change in its hybrid strategy of a streaming service release preceded by a wide theatrical with P&a that was undertaken with Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon. The Surprise Box Office Hit Last Weekend? A Pottery-Making Cat
It’s doubtful J.D. Vance bought a ticket, but the ninth annual CatVideoFest sold a record $281,000 worth of tickets during the Aug. 3 weekend, when it opened on 106 screens across the country, with such venues as L.A.’s Vidiots playing to sold-out crowds. “It’s our biggest opening ever,” purrs Will Braden, the Seattle-based videographer who’s been running the festival since 2016. “It was way bigger than we expected.” Indeed, when you crunch the data, the fest — which is really just a 75-minute compilation reel featuring Braden’s edits of the best online feline content of the past year, like YouTube sensation Momo, a cat who makes pottery on a pedal wheel — performed better per screen than some major releases, including Harold and the Purple Crayon and Fly Me to the Moon. And those numbers should only go up as...

Channing Tatum never thought he'd get the chance to play Gambit after being cast as the Ragin' Cajun only to see his planned X-Men spin-off scrapped after Disney's takeover of 20th Century Fox, but he was given the opportunity to suit-up as the mutant hero in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Despite initially playing the character for laughs (that accent was... something), Tatum does ultimately get to break out Gambit's signature staff and charge-up the cards when he joins his fellow Resistance members to face-off against Cassandra Nova and her forces in the Void.
Now, the Fly Me To the Moon actor has shared a video of the training he put in to master Gambit's moves, while director Shawn Levy has also posted some more official stills featuring Tatum in his comic-accurate costume.
It remains to be seen if Tatum will get to reprise the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but...

Sony Pictures Entertainment posted first quarter operating income of $73M, down over 36% year-on-year on a U.S. dollar basis.
Revenues also slipped 7% from $2.32B to $2.17B for the three months ended June 30, 2024, despite the performances of films such as The Garfield Movie and Bad Boys: Ride or Die and growth in streaming subs.
Overall, Tokyo-based Sony pointed to a reduced number of theatrical releases and new TV season launches for the financial drops, but noted anime streamer Crunchyroll had swelled the coffers through higher paid subscriptions.
The motion pictures unit was down from $908M in revenue in Q1 2023 to $852M, with falls in the theatrical, television and streaming services units that sit within it. Adjusted Oibda (Operating Income Before Depreciation and Amortization) was also down 13% to $179M.

Exclusive: Netflix has locked down rights to Hurt People, a legal thriller spec from Monarch creator Melissa London Hilfers, sources tell Deadline.
Details as to the plot of the film are under wraps. Written amid last year’s writer’s strike, it marks the rising scribe’s fifth feature spec sale to date. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are attached to produce for Berlanti/Schechter Films.
While Hilfers most recently created Monarch, a country music drama starring Susan Sarandon and Anna Friel for Fox TV, the writer is a self-professed justice junkie who more often than not, finds her way back to stories with the law at the center, as she has here. Previously a litigator at Cravath, Swaine and Moore Llp, she burst onto the scene with Undone, a legal thriller described as Gone Girl meets Primal Fear, which sold to Parkes + MacDonald and Black Bear in a competitive situation.

An A-lister like Scarlett Johansson isn’t merely recognized for her bedazzled filmography or the accolades lining up her shelves. She’s also known for a bevy of endorsements and brand tie-ups.
Naturally, some of the biggest names in the industries of fashion and beauty are in liaison with the Marvel alum.

Dolce & Gabbana, L’oreal Paris, and Louis Vitton are a few names on the list of the brands that Johansson backs. Alas, Coke and Pepsi don’t seem to have made it on said list.
Scarlett Johansson’s Ad Got Banned at Super Bowl
Brands from the beauty and wellness sphere aren’t the only ones Scarlett Johansson endorses, she’s also affiliated with a drink company called SodaStream. But perhaps the Israel-based establishment was shooting for the stars with this one controversial advertisement featuring the Black Widow actress.

From comic book extravaganzas to intimate indies, a wide variety of films found success at the box office this weekend. Deadpool & Wolverine continued breaking records with a global haul surpassing $630 million, while Longlegs impressed critics and audiences with its unnerving atmosphere.
Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their first superhero team-up, crossed another milestone with its international total now over $332 million. Domestically, it became the highest-grossing R-rated film ever with $298.4 million to date. Jackman congratulated Reynolds on Instagram for their collaboration’s “phenomenal” response.
Another smash was Inside Out 2, which has now earned over $1 billion worldwide – a first for 2022. Pixar’s heartwarming sequel about the emotions inside a girl’s head brought in $6.1 million on Friday for a projected $98 million second weekend total. With its humor and heart, Inside Out 2 looks poised to surpass Frozen II as the highest-grossing animated film.

Since the landing of the moon in 1969, there have been those who question the credibility of the famed event that gave America the winning title of the space race. Because most people will not make it into the stratosphere of space, questions, and conspiracies began to arise of whether or not the moon landing was real. As art will imitate life, it’s no surprise that the conspiracies have inspired a new film. ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ is the newest rom-com directed by Greg Berlanti from a screenplay by Rose Gilroy. The Apple Studios film hit theatres this week and opens up compelling questions about the true story of the moon landing. The U.K. and Ireland box office hit £103.3 million ($132.5 million) in July, marking the strongest monthly performance since December 2023, according to numbers from Comscore.
Despite this uptick, the year-to-date total remains 14% behind 2023’s figures, largely due to the absence of a “Barbenheimer”-level phenomenon this summer.
Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” led the pack with £28.2 million after three weeks. The animated sequel has already surpassed the lifetime gross of the original “Despicable Me” (£20.2 million) and is tracking 4% ahead of “Despicable Me 3” at the same point. It currently stands as the third-biggest release of 2024, behind only “Inside Out 2” and “Dune: Part II.”
“Deadpool & Wolverine” landed at No. 2 with £25.3 million in just eight days. The Marvel entry from Disney scored the year’s highest three-day opening at £12.6 million and set a new record for 15-rated releases. Among superhero titles, only six films have opened higher in the territory.

We're sure the majority of you have seen Deadpool and Wolverine at this stage, but just in case, be warned of major spoilers from this point on.
When Logan (Hugh Jackman) and the Merc With a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) are banished to the Void by Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), they discover that a group of Multiverse Variants have joined forces to make a stand against Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).
The team is made up of characters who had their time in the sun (Wesley Snipes' Blade), who never really got a chance to shine (Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Dafne Keen's Laura/X-23), and one who never even got to make his big-screen debut.

Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” made a splash in its debut weekend, earning £17.3 million ($22.2 million) at the U.K. and Ireland box office, according to numbers from Comscore.
The superhero team-up film easily claimed the top spot and became the highest opener of the year in the territory, outpacing its nearest competitor by a wide margin. Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” held strong in its third week, adding £3.1 million in second spot for a cumulative total of £25.3 million. Warner Bros.’ “Twisters” maintained its position at No. 3, pulling in £1.5 million in its second week for a £7.9 million total.
Disney’s “Inside Out 2,” the previous highest opener of the year, continued its steady performance in its seventh week, crossing the £50 million mark with a £1.1 million weekend in fourth place.
Rounding out the top five, “Longlegs” added £724,320 in its third week for a total of £5.6 million. Further down the chart, Paramount’s...

While Twisters claimed the top spot of the weekend box-office seven days ago, it was handily displaced this weekend by newcomer Deadpool & Wolverine by the not-so-tiny sum of $169.7 million.
Over the course of its first weekend in release, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ Deadpool & Wolverine dominated the box-office top ten with a debut of $205.0 million. This was far more than enough to take first place away from Universal Pictures’ Twisters which brought in only $35.3 million in its second week of release and dropped to second place as a result. Still, the film boasts a two-week tally of $154.9 million for the studio. Similarly dropping a spot this weekend was Despicable Me 4 which landed in third place with $14.2 million. This gives the Universal Pictures product a four-week total of $291.0 million. Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 fell from third- to fifth-place this weekend with $8.3 million, bringing the film’s seven-week total...

The dust is settling at the weekend box office as the final numbers start coming in for Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine. In our box office estimates, we pegged the film coming in at $200 million, and now it looks like the movie just blew past that mark, with Comscore revealing the film grossed $205 million this weekend. That breaks several records, with it now the highest-opening R-rated movie of all time. The number two and three spots on the biggest R-rated openers of all time belong to Deadpool and its first sequel. The first movie made $132.4 million, and the sequel grossed $125.5 million over their opening weekends.
That opening also takes the film into the top 10 biggest openers of all time, with it slipping into 8th place now between two other MCU movies, The Avengers and Black Panther. That’s a pretty incredible result for an R-rated movie. Still, audiences absolutely love...

On a balmy Thursday night, at the corners of Broxton and Weyburn Avenues in Westwood Village, a smattering of movie lovers bathed in yellow and blue neon lights snapped photos of a marquee.
They came to pay last respects to the Fox Bruin Theater, whose 7:30 p.m. screening of Twisters would be its last, the first time the Streamline Moderne landmark would shutter since opening its doors in 1937.
Regency Theatres, which in 2010 swooped in to save the movie house from potential extinction, opted not to renew its lease on that 670-seat theater, nor the 1,400-seat Fox Village Theater across the street.
But the Village found a savior in director Jason Reitman, who earlier this year led a consortium of 35 fellow filmmakers who banded together to purchase the property, with plans to renovate it and eventually reopen. No timeline or details have yet been announced on the project.

After its disappointing opening weekend at the box office, director Greg Berlanti's 1960s-set Space Race romantic comedy "Fly Me to the Moon" seems practically destined to become a forgotten film that will end up streaming on Apple TV+, where very few people will see it. That's a shame, because after a somewhat rocky opening few minutes, the movie settles into a nice groove and ends up becoming the type of charming, stylish throwback we're always saying we want to see more of. A huge part of the reason for the film's creative success is the casting of Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson in the lead roles; their chemistry is evident, and there's an old-fashioned playfulness to their banter. More importantly, though, the movie gives Johansson the opportunity to do something she's very rarely been allowed to do on screen: have fun.

Greg Berlanti aims high with ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, and the part romance, part period, part thriller, all high concept space-race picture for Apple Original Films lands him among the stars. Though pitched as a rom-com, arguably it’s more of an irreverent period comedy that asks questions more relevant than ever about media, authenticity, and truth… with a side of star-studded romance. Despite some rough edges, the great cast and characters, historical easter eggs, and beautiful visual design really bring this romp to the moon to life.

Regency’s historic Westwood Village and Bruin theaters are closing this week as their leases comes to end.
“Regency Theatres lease of the Bruin & Village Theatres ends this month with the last day of operation being July 25th. We have been proud to steward these buildings for the past 14 years and are grateful to the Hollywood community & patrons alike who have supported these iconic theaters. We are excited to see what the future holds for these beloved Los Angeles Landmarks and look forward to their continued success,” said Regency Theatres President Lyndon Golin in a statement.
The Westwood Fox Village, known for its 170-foot Spanish Revival Art Deco tower, is expected to undergo a renovation after the filmmaker initiative led by Jason Reitman earlier this year saved the 1931 cinema. No word on when and how construction is scheduled to go down.
The Bruin’s fate is up in the air.

Updated Monday Am: Universal/Warner Bros/Amblin’s Twisters is higher this morning after a $21.57M Sunday, which puts the Lee Isaac Chung-directed, Mark L. Smith-penned tentpole at an opening of $81.2M. That’s close to double what the first movie opened to back in 1996, at $41M.
The question now is whether the movie can be sequelized. What’s gonna happen? More tornadoes? One has to take the setting to some fresh locale where there aren’t tornadoes, i.e. New York City.
Universal does it again: Twisters opening is just $1.1M shy of what Oppenheimer opened to a year ago. Counting the third weekend of Despicable Me 4, Universal made $105.55M between the top two films at the box office.
Updated Sunday Am: Universal has called the domestic opening for the Lee Isaac Chung-directed Twisters at $80.5M, as we told you last night. That’s 60% ahead of...

There's an idea about cinema that most filmmakers will tell you about what is going to happen in the film within the first ten minutes. Fly Me to the Moon, directed by Greg Berlanti, is a perfect example of that technique. In the first ten minutes, sly marketing manager Kelly Jones, played by Scarlett Johansson, tries to pitch business executives on buying a sports car with safety belts (it happens in the 60s when any safety measures were still treated as unnecessary accessories). With seatbelts you don't have to die driving a Mustang and your wife will luckily give you permission to buy something slightly cooler than a Plymouth. This definitely sounds appealing to buyers, and this is exactly what Fly Me to the Moon intends to do, too. It offers audiences a beautiful, smooth and entertaining ride without any risk. What could possibly go wrong...? But cinema without any...

A new film adorns the top of the box-office weekend as Twisters debuted $56.7 million ahead of the second-place film, last week’s top film Despicable Me 4.
Universal Pictures enjoyed an $80.5 million opening weekend for Twisters, the sequel to 1996’s Twister, as the film finished firmly affixed atop the top ten weekend box office. Meanwhile, last weekend’s top film, Despicable Me 4 was dropped to second place where it took in $23.8 million to bring its three-week total to $259.5 million for Universal Pictures. Holding its ground in third place, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures product Inside Out 2 made $12.8 million to raise its six-week tally to $596.4 million. Last weekend’s second-place film, Longlegs, dropped to fourth place this weekend with $11.7 million, giving the film a two-week total of $44.7 million. Twisters has torn up the North American box office with a mighty estimated $80.5m opening weekend that rode roughshod over pre-opening forecasts of a $50m-plus.
North American distributor Universal said the tentpole delivered the highest debut ever by a natural disaster film, ahead of The Day After Tomorrow on an unadjusted $68.4m in 2004, and scored the third highest opening weekend of 2024 behind Inside Out 2 on $154.2m and Dune: Part Two on $82.5m.

For once, disaster is a box-office positive. “Twisters” (Universal) beat all projections to score an $80.5 million #1 weekend. Timed for needed escapism, and with the cataclysmic genre that excels on premium screens, it proved a worthy successor to its original.
The 1996 “Twister” opened to $41 million in early May. (That was back when pre-Memorial Day didn’t mean the start of summer.) At today’s prices, that would represent around $100 million today. It ended up with a six-time multiple of $495 (about $600 million at today’s prices).
Because “Twisters” competed for attention in the research, tracking far underestimated the interest in the film. Projections of $40 million-$50 million seemed wrong on multiple levels, but even our prediction of at least $60 million fell far short of the mark.
Even more impressive is its weekend trajectory. After $8 million in previews, $70 million seemed plausible for the weekend. The guess rose to $75 million by Saturday. But when the...

Update: Universal/Warner Bros/Amblin’s Twisters positively blasted past forecasts domestically this session. While the international box office result is pretty close to where we saw it coming in, there’s no denying this is much more of a domestic play.
The global cume, largely boosted by domestic’s heartland turnout this weekend, is now $123.2M. Universal has domestic rights and Warner is handling overseas where $27.1M was wrangled from 76 markets this frame. That’s after early release in 38 markets last session. This weekend saw a 30% drop overall overseas, for a $42.7M offshore cume.
Latin America had great holds at Colombia (+8%), Argentina (+1%), Mexico (-22%), Peru (-23%) and Brazil (-31%). Australia was down just 21%. Japan and and Korea are still to release.
Nostalgia is not so prevalent for the original Twisters overseas, but with good social and critical scores plus holidays, maybe we see some uptick ahead. That’s gonna...

Richard Simmons’ staff shared his final “planned” message to fans on social media a week after the fitness guru’s death at the age of 76.
While Simmons spent his last years largely out of the public eye, he remained active on social media, often sharing personal news and words of encouragement with fans. One such post penned by Simmons was authored prior to his death on July 13, but held until this Saturday, when his staff shared it on social media.
From Richard’s staff:
Hello everyone.
Richard worked very hard on his posts for you.

Despite the country cooling down slightly this weekend temperature-wise, moviegoers still flocked into theaters for the latest weather-related disaster film, which harked back to a previous blockbuster from the ’90s. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Universal and Warner Bros.’ “Twisters,” directed by Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”) and starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, came into the weekend with solid advance reviews at 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. Universal released the movie into 4,151 theaters on Friday, but by then, it had already amassed $10.7 million in Thursday previews with $2.7 million of that coming from Wednesday showings. The action sequel made $32.2 million on Friday (including those previews), and Universal is estimating an $80.5 million weekend for “Twisters,” which is well ahead of even the loftiest of predictions for the action sequel, putting it just ahead of “Godzilla X Kong” and just behind “Dune: Part 2” as far as the year’s big openers.

Down at the Universal Studios offices, the staff are undoubtedly doing The Twist in celebration of Twisters much higher than expected opening weekend. Indeed, they have reason to celebrate, with even the most optimistic box office predictions estimating the film would only open in the $50 million-ish range (including ours). To everyone’s surprise, the movie rallied to an incredible $80.5 million opening, which makes it the third biggest opening of the year behind Inside Out 2 and Dune: Part Two.
This is a major win for Universal, with the film posting Oppenheimer-level numbers and a rock-solid A-minus CinemaScore. If word of mouth is good, this could leg out to a North American total in the $200 million plus range, although it will face steep competition next weekend from Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s also a major win for Glen Powell as a leading man, with Hollywood hyped on his potential for stardom...

“Twisters” is taking the box office by storm.
The movie, a standalone sequel to the 1996 disaster epic “Twister,” has collected a massive $80.5 million from 4,151 North American theaters in its debut. Heading into the weekend, the follow-up film was projected to generate $50 million to $55 million. It’s the third-biggest opening weekend of the year behind “Inside Out 2” ($154 million) and “Dune: Part Two” ($82 million). Directed by “Minari” filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, “Twisters” stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos as storm chasers who find themselves in the fight of their lives as multiple tornadoes converge over central Oklahoma.
Analysts believe several factors contributed to the surge in initial ticket sales, the most important being that audiences simply dug the film. It holds an “A-” on CinemaScore. Nostalgia for the original blockbuster, starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman, as well as the rising bankability of the property’s fresh faces,...

Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters is whipping up huge winds at the box office, with forecasters predicting a far better than expected domestic opening of $80.5 million in North America. That’s even up from Saturday’s already massive estimate of $74.6 million.
The record-breaking movie, playing in 4,151 theaters, easily boasts the top domestic opening ever for a natural disaster film, not adjusted for inflation. (The current crown holder is Roland Emmerich’s The Day After Tomorrow, which bowed to $68.44 million in 2004.) It’s also the third biggest start of the year to date behind Inside Out 2 ($154.2 million) and Dune: Part Two ($82.5 million) after edging out Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ($80 million).
The turnout for Twisters cements the rising star status of Hollywood’s man-of-the-moment Glen Powell, along with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos (the trio lead the ensemble cast). It’s also a notable win for Chung, the acclaimed filmmaker of indie hit Minari.

The new disaster movie “Twisters” has been blowing away box office records since it came out! Projections show it made around $74.6 million its first weekend, which would break the all-time opening record for movies about storms. That record is currently held by “The Day After Tomorrow” from 2004.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, who directed the small hit “Minari,” “Twisters” stars Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos. It’s a sequel to the mega-popular 1996 tornado movie “Twister.” Audiences really seem to be loving it – it got an A- on CinemaScore and a 92% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even with tough comparisons to last year when “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” came out at the same time, “Twisters” has still done great. It’s helped make up the difference at the box office from 2022. The State of the Race
“Dune: Part Two” (Warner Bros.) is the early favorite in continuing Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi trilogy with bigger and more lavish world-building. However, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (Warner Bros.), though not on the same scale, touts expansive environments as well.
Other standouts include “Civil War” (A24), “Kinds of Kindness” (Searchlight Pictures), “Sing Sing” (A24), and “Fly Me to the Moon” (Sony Pictures). Among the major fall contenders are “Wicked” (Universal), “Gladiator II” (Paramount), “Megalopolis” (Lionsgate), “Nosferatu” (Focus Features), “Blitz” (Apple TV+), “Conclave” (Focus Features...

Directed by Greg Berlanti and produced by star Scarlett Johansson, the romantic dramedy Fly Me to the Moon was originally meant to be released directly to the Apple TV+ streaming service, but strong test screenings inspired Sony to give the film a theatrical release first. The movie isn’t setting the box office on fire, having pulled in just $20 million worldwide during its first week of release, but it will be heading to Apple TV+ soon anyway – and Berlanti and Johansson were able to establish a strong working relationship during the making of the film. That’s a working relationship they’re now set to continue with a psychological thriller called Sasha, and Deadline reports that Amazon MGM Studios has come out the winner of a five-way auction to land the rights to the project.
Berlanti will be producing Sasha alongside Sarah Schechter and Mike McGrath for Berlanti Schechter Films,...

Not long ago I vowed never to write about dogs or cats. It seems everyone feels compelled to talk about their pets or show us photos. Even movies.
It’s on overload: a cat named Frodo is a scene-stealer in A Quiet Place: Day One. She faithfully observes the post-dystopian rules of silence, even sensing intricate escape routes through the apocalyptic landscape. A mysterious black cat appears inconveniently in Fly Me to the Moon to upset Scarlet Johansson’s complex plan for the lunar landing.
Thus the tyranny of petdom assaults us from every direction. Few celebrities will agree to be photographed unless there’s also a camera-ready pet to hug (usually not their’s). Politicians have become the exceptions: President Biden’s dog is a serial biter and Trump’s belongs to Nathan’s Famous.
The New York Times last week ran an entire special section about pets, and...

Earlier this week, we learned that Marvel Studios is in talks with filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo to helm both Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While the duo responsible for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame have previously said they wouldn't be free to work on an MCU project until the end of the decade, the duo's Agbo-produced content has been a tad hit-or-miss.
Cherry starring Tom Holland wasn't the Oscar frontrunner many expected and blockbuster TV shows and movies like Citadel and The Gray Man received similarly tepid responses. Arguably the only real hit has been Netflix's Extraction movies.
As a result, a return to the Avengers franchise benefits them just as much as it does Marvel Studios.
With so much talk of superhero fatigue, Kevin Feige can't risk the two-part conclusion to the Multiverse Saga being anything other than excellent.
