This weekend’s biggest theatrical release was the novel-based romantic drama “It Ends with Us,” starring Blake Lively, taking on the seemingly unstoppable “Deadpool and Wolverine” juggernaut. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Although Lively’s movie did very well, better than some expected, “Deadpool and Wolverine” stayed on top for a third weekend in a row with $54.2 million, down just 44% to bring its domestic total to $494.3 million. Marvel Studios’ latest is just one or two days away from hitting the $500 million milestone, a benchmark achieved by a mere 21 movies — see the complete list.
The Ryan Reynolds–Hugh Jackman blockbuster grossed another $57.8 million internationally this weekend for an overseas total of $535.2 million, and sure enough, it crossed the $1 billion mark globally, remaining the second-biggest blockbuster of 2024. Another landmark of note is the $78 million the movie has made on global IMAX screens, divided at $41.3 million domestic and $36.7 million international.

Cuckoo is looking at a $3+ million opening, not a Longlegs debut ($22 million) but on target for Neon’s Alpine-set horror starring Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens.
R-rated Cuckoo by Tilman Singer opened at 1,503 theaters for 9th place at the domestic box office. Schafer is great as troubled 17-year-old Gretchen, who reluctantly leaves her American home after her mother dies to live with her father and his new family just as they move to a resort in the beautiful German Alps. Owner Herr König takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister, while Gretchen herself is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret
Longlegs by Osgood Perkins is no. 10 in week 5 with an estimated $2 million on 1,310 screens for a hefty $71 million gross. It’s sticking around amid a steadier stream of studio wide releases and tentpoles.
Holdovers: Didi from Focus Features...

Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” (Disney) is the #1 film for its third week with $54 million and $494 million domestic so far. That’s a headline story, but the bigger news is the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s massive bestseller “It Ends with Us” (Sony). A romantic drama that deals with spousal abuse resonated with audiences worldwide, opening to an astounding $50 million in the U.S. and Canada.
Another title made the wrong kind of headlines. “Borderlands” (Lionsgate), based on a very popular 2009 game, debuted at only $8.8 million.
A $25 million romantic drama squarely targeted for women outperformed a $115 million videogame adaptation by nearly 6x. Cinemascore for “It Ends” is A-; for “Borderlands,” D+.
Expectations for “It Ends” were modest, perhaps $50 million domestic after an opening in the mid-teens, but it’s now a contender for the month’s top film; its best competition arrives next week with “Alien: Romulus” (Disney). “Borderlands” was...

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine delivered $54.2m in its third weekend as the newly crowned $1bn global smash surged to $494.3m in North America, staying top ahead of a spectacular $50m debut for Sony’s romantic drama It Ends With Us.
It was a great weekend for the Ryan Reynolds-Blake Lively household that maintained an encouraging summer season and for the first time saw two films earn $50m or more in the same weekend in the traditionally slow month of August. Studios will confirm numbers on Monday.

It was husband vs wife this weekend at the top of the box office charts, with Blake Lively’s romantic drama, It Ends With Us, battling it out for the top spot with hubby Ryan Reynolds’s box office behemoth, Deadpool & Wolverine. In the end, the superhero team-up movie managed to hold on to the top spot for a third weekend in a row, grossing an outstanding $54 million, which is only a 44% drop since last week (that’s a great hold), with the film likely to cross the $500 million mark at the domestic box office by mid-week.
However, while it wasn’t able to eke out a win over Deadpool, It Ends With Us, which is adapted from the novel by Colleen Hoover, was still a major win. The Blake Lively vehicle’s $50 million gross makes it one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas in recent memory, with it well on...

Patrick Lussier's 2011 film "Drive Angry" might belong to a genre hereby designated "neo-grindhouse." There was a wave of films in the late 2000s and early 2010s that sought to evoke the style or the content of a very specific type of exploitation movie that was popular in the 1970s. In addition to the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez 2007 twofer "Grindhouse" and its spinoffs, films like "Redline," "The Man with the Iron Fists," "Turbo Kid," "Kung Fury," "Hatchet," "Torque," "Deathgasm," "House of the Devil," and "The Love Witch" popped up on the regular.
"Drive Angry" gleefully embraced its goofy, action/horror premise with aplomb. A dead race car driver named (sigh) John Milton (Nicolas Cage) escapes the clutches of Hell having stolen Satan's persona gun, a device called the Godkiller. On his tail is Satan's Accountant (William Fichtner), assigned with nabbing John and dragging him back to Hell. John,...

It’s getting ugly. While we predicted that Eli Roth’s Borderlands was shaping up to be a box office flop, according to Deadline’s early numbers, the film is turning out to be nothing short of a catastrophe. Last night, the film only so little that the site forecasts the film is likely to end the weekend with a single digit gross, in the range of $8-10 million. While the reviews have been bad, audiences seem to hate the film even more, with it posting a truly atrocious D+ CinemaScore rating. When all is said and done, this $100 million plus blockbuster may not even earn north of $20 million (total) in North America. It will likely go down as one of the biggest box office disasters ever, unless overseas business is brisk – which seems unlikely.
In another surprise, the Blake Lively-led Colleen Hoover adaptation, It Ends With Us, is doing truly blockbuster business.

Plot: A 17-year-old girl is forced to move with her family to a resort where things are not what they seem.
Review: 2024 has been the year of the well-marketed horror film. With Longlegs already blowing audiences away, now it’s Cuckoo’s turn to prove itself. Presented as less of a crime thriller and more of a “what the hell is happening?” mystery, Cuckoo isn’t afraid to get weird. And that’s often where horror can be the most interesting. Nine times out of ten, the unexplained is more terrifying than the truth, so there’s always a concern about a film expounding too much. I’m happy to report that the film manages to maintain its mystery.
I’m going to make this review as spoiler-free as possible since I know there’s still a little bit of time till this releases theatrically. If you’re one of...

Six months after her media blitz for True Detective: Night Country, Jodie Foster is still singing her series’ praises. Now, thanks to 19 Emmy nominations (including an outstanding lead actress mention and, for her producer work, a best limited series nom), she says she’ll keep playing hype woman for Issa López’s spin on the HBO franchise until their September reunion. “I could talk about it for the rest of my life,” says Foster. “And I think there are maybe two occasions I’ve ever felt that about something. This one is special.”
Speaking on the phone in late July, Foster discusses the more challenging parts of her True Detective shoot, what she wants to see more of in Hollywood and how the Longlegs/Silence of the Lambs comparisons finally caught up with her while she was trying to work out.

Steven Soderbergh directs a supernatural thriller with a unique perspective twist. Here’s the first trailer for Presence, starring Lucy Liu and Julia Fox:
Director Steven Soderbergh has been on a roll recently, having released at least one film a year since 2017 and sometimes two. These have included Logan Lucky, Unsane, High Flying Bird, The Laundromat, Let Them All Talk, No Sudden Move, Kimi and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
His latest film, Presence, has a unique twist to it: the story’s shot from the perspective of a supernatural entity that stalks an ordinary suburban family. After debuting at Sundance early this year, the movie was picked up for distribution by Neon – the company that recently enjoyed a huge hit with serial killer horror, Longlegs.
According to Deadline, The synopsis reads as follows:
A family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they’re not alone, but rather surrounded by a mysterious entity.

Patricia Arquette and Tom Felton have joined the cast of They Will Kill You, the thriller being produced by Nocturna Pictures, the horror label formed earlier this year by Skydance and Andy and Barbara Muschietti.
New Line is co-financing and distributing the feature, which will have Kirill Sokolov in the director’s chair when shooting gets underway in mid-September.
Zazie Beetz is toplining They Will Kill You, which is described as a horror feature laced with black humor and telling the story of a woman (Beetz) who answers a help wanted ad to be a housekeeper in a mysterious high-rise in New York City, not realizing she is entering a community that has seen a number of disappearances over the years and may be under the grip of a Satanic cult. The project has been described as being a tonal mix of Ready or Not and The Raid.

Whilst Steven Soderbergh is already hard at work on his upcoming Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett starring spy drama Black Bag, we've all been sat here waiting patiently for the prolific filmmaker's most recent film Presence ever since it premiered at Sundance earlier this year. Today, we got a chance to feel Soderbergh's horror-thriller's, er, well, presence for the first time as American distributor Neon released an eerie first teaser trailer for the Lucy Liu starring movie. Check it out below:
Well that teaser and us have something in common — we're both speechless! Following in the vein of recent cryptic teasers for movies like Longlegs, Cuckoo, and The Substance (that the first two of those are also Neon-distributed features is surely no coincidence), this one really doesn't give anything away at all. But even though you may look at this foreboding, forty-second slow pull back from a still suburban...

“Longlegs” (Neon) is the early makeup and hairstyling standout among a field that also includes “A Different Man” (A24), “Dune: Part Two” (Warner Bros.), “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (Warner Bros.), and “Deadpool & Wolverine” (Marvel/Disney). But the race will heat up in the fall with “Joker: Folie à Deux” (Warner Bros.), “Wicked” (Universal), “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (Warner Bros.), and “Nosferatu” (Focus Features).

“Presence” will soon be felt.
Steven Soderbergh’s highly anticipated ghost story, written by David Koepp and starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan and Julia Fox, will be released theatrically by Neon in January 2025. The studio released a brand-new teaser for the psychological thriller on Wednesday, which you can watch below.
The approach that the teaser takes is nifty — it just lists off some of Soderbergh’s past masterpieces, while a camera slowly moves from outside of a suburban house to inside. That’s it. The implication is clear: “Presence” is an event, as only the second Soderbergh movie to be released theatrically since 2018’s “Unsane” and the other film (“Magic Mike’s Last Dance”) was made for streaming before being changed at the last minute to a theatrical release. That really does make “Presence” special.

The box office is still relying heavily on “Deadpool and Wolverine” to get us through the slower month of summer, but this weekend could offer an unlikely surprise. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
After two weeks at #1 and hitting $400 million domestic, “Deadpool and Wolverine” may finally have some competition, though it’s going to be tough to beat if it’s able to make $50 million or more in its third weekend, which is definitely possible.
Who better than to take on Ryan Reynolds‘ mega-blockbuster than Reynolds’ own wife, Blake Lively, starring in the romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” based on the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover from 2016, which sold over a million copies worldwide by 2019 but only debuted as #1 in the New York Times bestsellers list in January 2022, thanks to a surge via TikTok.

An exhausted Ryan Reynolds was overwhelmed when the opening-day grosses started pouring in on July 26 for Deadpool & Wolverine, the third entry in his audacious superhero series. By July 27, the impossible was within reach: The Marvel Studios pic was going to cross $200 million in its domestic debut, something no one thought possible for an R-rated film. The final number came in at a stunning $211 million, the sixth-biggest opening of all time and $79 million ahead of the previous R-rated record-holder, 2016’s Deadpool.
“I’ve been in some form of writing, producing, performing, editing and marketing of Deadpool & Wolverine for three years. I’d say it’s hard work — but it’s closer to obsession,” Reynolds told The Hollywood Reporter upon returning from a whirlwind global publicity tour with his besties, co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy.

Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer is a convincing scream queen in this Germany-set chiller which prioritises mood over plot
There’s a dizzying amount to see and hear in German film-maker Tilman Singer’s brash style-over-substance horror Cuckoo, a film that pokes and prods and screeches with just about enough vim and volume to keep us mostly engaged. As the work of a newish-to-the-scene director, it’s a big, bold flex, and one that serves as more than ample evidence that he can be trusted to take on, and add flavour to, far more commercial movies. As proof of his ability as a writer it’s far less persuasive, a script that could generously be labelled opaque and more fairly called frequently incoherent.
How much one will be turned off by such hazy, haphazard plotting will be a matter of personal taste and in a period that’s seen the horror...

Things have been looking up at the box office as of late, with movies like "Inside Out 2," "Deadpool & Wolverine," and even Neon's indie horror hit "Longlegs" lifting us out of a pretty dreadful situation. Unfortunately, the rising tide doesn't always lift all boats. Sony's "Harold and the Purple Crayon" hit theaters this past weekend, instantly becoming one of the biggest misfires of the year thus far. The only saving grace is that we're talking about a mid-budget movie and not one with a full-on blockbuster budget. Even so, things are looking rough with no reason to believe they're going to get much better.
Director Carlos Saldanha's "Harold and the Purple Crayon" opened to just $6 million domestically while playing on more than 3,300 screens. It placed at number six on the charts, placing behind "Inside Out 2" ($6.7 million), which was on its eighth weekend in theaters. This...

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine held on to top spot in its second weekend in North America as an estimated $97m boosted the running total to $395.6m and overtook The Passion Of The Christ on $371m to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Playing in 4,230 theatres, the summer smash starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman dropped 53% – a solid hold for a tentpole targeted at a typically front-loaded cinema-going culture – and scored the eighth highest second weekend of all time, and the fifth second highest weekend of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” (Disney) grossed $97 million on its second weekend, representing a 54 percent drop. That’s in line with other blockbuster openings and an impressive achievement. Disney now has all four of the top weekend totals this year, including the first two weekends of “Inside Out 2.” (The Pixar smash fell only 34 percent its second weekend).
That gets the third “Deadpool” (and the eighth Hugh Jackman “Wolverine”) movie to $395 million domestic and $824 million worldwide by its second weekend, the best of 2024. Whether it bests “Inside Out 2” (currently $627 million) for #1 for the year remains uncertain. “Inside Out 2” is closing in on “Barbie,” which ended up at $636 million last year, but that’s a trivia point; much more important is what these films brought to the struggling 2024 box office.

For more than 15 years studios have done their best to avoid releasing their new movies on the second weekend of a Marvel movie. This weekend we learned the reason why. Read on for the weekend box office report.
As expected, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman‘s “Deadpool and Wolverine” won its second weekend in a row, topping the box office with an estimated $97 million, down 54% from its record-setting opening weekend. Not only did “Deadpool and Wolverine” cross the $300 million milestone domestically this past weekend, but with $395.6 million grossed in North America, it’s only a day away from hitting the $400 million benchmark, so the race is on to see if it can catch up to Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”
Globally, the movie has passed the $800 million mark, adding another $110.5 million overseas this weekend for an international total of $428.5 million. With $824.1 million global, it has already passed the worldwide grosses...

Move over Passion of the Christ – there’s a new highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time now! Indeed, Deadpool & Wolverine, after only eleven days of release, has already overtaken the lifetime gross of Mel Gibson’s classic depiction of the crucifixion of Christ, with the Marvel three-quel only five million away from a $400 million domestic total. With a $97 million weekend, which only represents a 54% week-to-week decline, the film has already bested the lifetime totals of both Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The sky seems to be the limit for what will no doubt prove to be one of Marvel’s biggest movies ever – and proof positive that an R-rating is no detriment to the box office.
So far, the film’s international total is over $800 million, and it seems likely to pass the billion-dollar mark within a matter of days. That’s absolutely outstanding for an R-rated sequel.

Until "Longlegs" became the biggest box office surprise of the year, things weren't looking all that great for horror in 2024. A usually reliable genre was seemingly losing some of its appeal, as no one single film was able to repeat the breakout success of 2023's "Talk To Me" or "Skinamarink." Sydney Sweeney's dour nun horror pic "Immaculate" failed to wow critics and the generic yet enjoyable "Night Swim" couldn't quite become the breakout hit Universal were surely hoping for. Neither of these films were out and out financial failures, but it's actually quite difficult to lose a ton of money when your budgets are around the to $9-15 million mark.
Of course, the aforementioned "LongLegs" has proven that horror can still very much succeed at the box office, especially if you deploy one of the best marketing campaigns of recent years to support it. Which, as it happens, is...

“The Panic” is nearly here. Production has begun on the Blue Fox Entertainment film, which stars Cary Elwes and Malcolm McDowell and was written and directed by Daniel Adams. TheWrap has exclusive photos from the movie, which you can see above and below.
“The Panic,” according to the official synopsis, is based on a true story and set in 1907 New York, “as real-life bankers J. P. Morgan and Charles Barney grapple with a financial crisis sparked by Barney’s failed attempt to manipulate the copper market. As Morgan strives to safeguard his empire he becomes entangled in a clandestine struggle involving his brilliant mistress, Belle de Costa Greene, who ran his world-famous library.”
Colm Meaney (who replaced the late Donald Sutherland just before production commenced), Anastasiya Mitrunen and Cristiana Dell’Anna also star in “The Panic.”
Michael Mailer (“The Walk”) is producing alongside Mark Williams and Eric Williams of Zero Gravity with Evan Anglin as coproducer.

From comic book extravaganzas to intimate indies, a wide variety of films found success at the box office this weekend. Deadpool & Wolverine continued breaking records with a global haul surpassing $630 million, while Longlegs impressed critics and audiences with its unnerving atmosphere.
Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their first superhero team-up, crossed another milestone with its international total now over $332 million. Domestically, it became the highest-grossing R-rated film ever with $298.4 million to date. Jackman congratulated Reynolds on Instagram for their collaboration’s “phenomenal” response.
Another smash was Inside Out 2, which has now earned over $1 billion worldwide – a first for 2022. Pixar’s heartwarming sequel about the emotions inside a girl’s head brought in $6.1 million on Friday for a projected $98 million second weekend total. With its humor and heart, Inside Out 2 looks poised to surpass Frozen II as the highest-grossing animated film.

One of the most talked-about films at the moment is the critically acclaimed horror thriller Longlegs. Starring scream queen Maika Monroe as an FBI agent given the task of tracking down an occult serial killer, this film is easily one of the best horror flicks to be released this year. And guess what? Moviegoers have the chance to see it for free in theaters! But wait... There's a catch!
Not every moviegoer will be able to see this box-office hit for free. For a limited time only, Neon is offering free tickets to see Longlegs in theaters only to people who were born on the 14th of any month. If you haven't seen the horror thriller yet, you're probably confused about the importance of this date. Of course, we're not going to spoil its significance here. You'll just have to go see Longlegs in theaters to find out.
The promotion only lasts from Aug.

The U.K. and Ireland box office hit £103.3 million ($132.5 million) in July, marking the strongest monthly performance since December 2023, according to numbers from Comscore.
Despite this uptick, the year-to-date total remains 14% behind 2023’s figures, largely due to the absence of a “Barbenheimer”-level phenomenon this summer.
Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” led the pack with £28.2 million after three weeks. The animated sequel has already surpassed the lifetime gross of the original “Despicable Me” (£20.2 million) and is tracking 4% ahead of “Despicable Me 3” at the same point. It currently stands as the third-biggest release of 2024, behind only “Inside Out 2” and “Dune: Part II.”
“Deadpool & Wolverine” landed at No. 2 with £25.3 million in just eight days. The Marvel entry from Disney scored the year’s highest three-day opening at £12.6 million and set a new record for 15-rated releases. Among superhero titles, only six films have opened higher in the territory.

Osgood Perkins’ “Longlegs” has not needed any help at the box office, but it is getting some anyway. And in true “Longlegs” (and Perkins) fashion, the plan is perfectly creepy.
Distributor Neon is partnering with Atom Tickets to offer free tickets to “Longlegs” for anyone who has a birthday that falls on the 14th of any given month. Sounds weird until you see the film — or at least know Nicolas Cage’s character’s propensity to kill.
In the horror film, Maika Monroe plays an FBI agent decoding a series of occult clues to track Cage’s serial killer character. She discovers he only targets victims who were born on the 14th. The giveaway makes for a fun little easter egg for fans, and a good carrot to entice those who haven’t yet seen it. Birthdate pending, of course.

Borderless Fog, or Kabut Berduri, is Netflix’s new Indonesian adventure that comes with high production value and unique storytelling. The investigative drama thriller is an entertaining mix of folklore, local culture, and detective work that keeps your cogs turning from start to finish. The film follows a detective named Sanja from Jakarta, who is assigned a special case in the Malaysia-Indonesia border region. It’s a complicated web of community disputes mixed with a forest spirit to create an eerie atmosphere. Of course, there’s the dark and terrifying premise of the film, heads rolling around like footballs in a children’s playground or the Indonesian countryside, which is beautiful for the most part but occasionally unsettling to look at. Borderless Fog is an apt title for the film, which seemed to almost sound like “headless chicken” to me; however, watching the movie cleared out that misconception instantly. It...

There are a lot of Stephen King movies, and that's a trend that shows no sign of slowing down — a new adaptation of "Salem's Lot" is due out on Max sometime this year, while "Longlegs" director Osgood Perkins has a take on King's short story "The Monkey" hitting theaters next year. We all know about the quantity — but what about the quality? I'm a Stephen King nerd, and in all honesty, I enjoy the vast majority of his movies — but I'll also admit some of them are duds (I'm looking at you, "Cell"). Horror is a beloved genre by many, but for a long time, some movie critics felt it was a gutter; a seedy place where no light could break through. As a result, there are some King movies with, let's say, less-than-stellar reviews.

Longlegs has indeed surged at the box office. After just three weeks of release, the occult-tilted thriller has amassed an impressive $58.6 million in North America. This milestone surpasses A24’s Talk to Me, which garnered $48 million domestically, making Longlegs the highest-grossing indie horror film of the last decade. Interestingly, even though Talk to Me holds a larger global tally at $92.1 million compared to Longlegs‘ $62 million, the latter has secured its place as Neon’s highest-grossing film of all time. This outperformed the Oscar-winning Parasite, which collected $53.36 million in North America. Given Neon’s limited control over international markets...

New Line has come aboard to co-finance and distribute They Will Kill You, a thriller being produced by Nocturna Pictures, the horror label formed earlier this year by Skydance and It filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti.
Zazie Beetz is set to star in the feature, which is heading towards a mid-September start in South Africa.
Kirill Sokolov, who wrote and directed the 2019 black action comedy Why Don’t You Just Die!, is directing. Sokolov co-wrote the script with Alex Litvak (Predators).

M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” lands in theaters on Friday, but the twisted thriller won’t stand a chance on box office charts against the reigning champion, Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
“Trap” is targeting $15 million to $20 million in its opening weekend and will compete for second place with Universal’s disaster epic “Twisters.” The Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones-led film is estimated to add $17 million to 19 million in its third frame. So far, “Twisters” has grossed $154 million domestically and $220 million globally. This weekend’s other new release, Sony’s kid-friendly “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” is aiming for a bleak $6 million to $7 million to start.
Despite two newcomers, “Deadpool & Wolverine” will continue to rule the box office in its second weekend of release. Ticket sales could decline anywhere from 55% to 65% from its stellar $211 million debut, which would result in roughly $75 million to $95 million in its sophomore outing.

Fritz Lang’s M is the greatest serial killer movie ever made. Of course, there have been dozens, even hundreds, of films on the subject with various innovations and evolutions along the way from the early days of cinema all the way to the most recent twists on the subgenre in MaXXXine and Longlegs. Whether it is the best or not is a matter of opinion, but there is no real argument regarding its greatness. M is a true cinematic masterpiece, a touchstone of innovation in image, sound, performance, structure, editing, writing, and practically every other element of filmmaking. But as with most great films, audiences have been drawn to it again and again over the past ninety-plus years because of its...

The Children, Eleanor!
We’ve spent the month of July discussing the badass babes of Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror (listen), the queer undertones of Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut (listen), and the “very bad weather” of Jan de Bont‘s 1996 tornado film, Twister (listen).
Now we’re wrapping up our de Bont double bill with his less successful 1999 special effects remake, The Haunting!
In the film, sheltered Eleanor (Lili Taylor) is recruited for a dubious insomnia study at the infamous Hill House by questionable doctor David Marrow (Liam Neeson). Along with bisexual Theo (Catherine Zeta-Taylor) and horny Luke (Owen Wilson), Nell is terrorized by annoying ghost children and the monstrous owner of the house, Hugh Crain (Charles Gunning).
As the spectral hauntings become more and more severe, Nell must uncover her tenuous connection to the previous victims before the terrible CGI swallows her and the other participants whole.

Deadline reports, “Now in week 3, the Osgood Perkins pic is also the top grossing R-rated horror of 2024 and the highest grossing indie horror film of the last ten years, topping A24’s Talk To Me, Insidious Chapter 3 from Universal’s Focus, and A24’s Hereditary.”
