‘Sherlock’ Honest Trailer Pokes Fun at The Popular BBC Series — Watch
The fourth season of the popular BBC series “Sherlock,” about the continuing adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his trusty assistant Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman), is set to premiere in January. But before that, Screen Junkies has released another Honest Trailer about the series that pokes fun at Cumberbatch’s portrayal, the series’ reliance on “Law & Order” rules and other visual and narrative tropes. “The world’s most famous detective returns to the screen, for like the 200th time,” drones the humorous voiceover performed by Jon Bailey. “But this show is more than a rehash of public domain stories from the 1890’s. Now, they blog!”
The voiceover goes on to comment on how Sherlock calls himself a “high-functioning sociopath,” which basically means he gets away with being a giant dick to everyone; Martin Freeman’s reaction faces, along with his reactions from “The Office” as Tim Canterbury; as well as the frequency of Sherlock being unimpressed by the world around him.

Created by Mark Gattis (“Doctor Who”) and Steven Moffat (“Coupling”), “Sherlock” first premiered in the U.K. in July 2010. Since its debut, it has won nine Emmys, three BAFTA awards, and a Peabody. The new season will premiere on January 1 on BBC in the U.K. and on PBS in the U.S.
