What it is: A miniseries about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.
Why you should watch it: When it was announced that there was going to be yet another project about Theranos and founder Elizabeth Holmes, it sounded exhausting. But then this miniseries starring an excellent Amanda Seyfried turned up and made us forget about everything else. A compelling, thorough adaptation by Elizabeth Meriwether (“New Girl”) and also starring Naveen Andrews, it was also funny. At its best it expertly showed the hollowness at the top and the self-serving delusions of so-called Great Men. Seyfried won an Emmy for this, and as you watch each purposefully awkward choice she makes as Holmes, it’s easy to see why. —ES
