Jerry Bruce Bain, 76, formerly of Indianapolis, died at home on May 12, 2024, in Venice, Florida, with his loving wife, Sharon Slone Bain, by his side. They were high school sweethearts and had been married for 55 years. Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Ben Davis High School and a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. During his lengthy retirement in Florida he enjoyed his boat and often fished in the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway with his wife, family and friends. Boating was one of Jerry’s favorite hobbies. Jerry was always a happy man on the water! Jerry was the owner of Speedway Auto Parts in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he started as the delivery man after being discharged from the US Army in 1968. While in the US Army he served a tour of duty at Bien Hoa Army Air Base, Headquarters Headquarters unit in Bien Hoa, South Vietnam in1967-68 (Tet offensive). He was a cook and the night baker. He was the son of Ruth and Oliver Bain, Jr., both deceased.

Burial was at the Sarasota National Cemetery with many other Vietnam veterans.
