Stanley Frank Blaase, 66, passed away on July 5th in Chicago, IL. Stan was the son of Jane Blaase (McCormick) and Loren Blaase.

He was born on September 24, 1957 in Greenwood, IN and graduated from Greenwood High School after setting many track and field records he proudly still held (thanks to a change made in the distances shortly after he earned them). After a charmed childhood on Beech Park Drive, Stan attended Ball State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Stan loved his time at Ball State thanks to his beloved Sigma Chi and the countless, lifelong friends he made there. Stan spent his career in publishing, influencing and mentoring many young salespeople along the way.

Stan was blessed with a loving family and an immeasurable number of friends. His easy rapport, kind nature and boundless sense of humor made everyone want to be around him. Stan was effortlessly positive with nothing bad to say about anyone. As he traveled around for work and girls’ soccer tournaments, Stan would nearly always encounter someone he knew. If he did not know someone when he arrived, he would leave every locale with at least one new friend. It is no exaggeration to say that he believed everyone was his friend, and he is one of very few people for whom nearly everyone would say the same.

Stan loved his family, the Colts, the Pacers, the St. Louis Cardinals, steak from St. Elmo’s, and of course, the Rolling Stones. His passion for each only increased when given the opportunity to share them with the people he loved. He could also frequently be found making pancakes for himself and whichever of the family’s golden retrievers was nearby. No matter what he was doing, he was usually laughing or making everyone else laugh (regardless of whether it was with or at him). Stan was a deeply loving father and truly just wanted to make the people around him happy.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lucy Mouser. He is survived by his daughter Molly (husband Pete), his son Doug, his granddaughter Lily, his brother Doug, his ex-wife, Laura and many loving nieces and nephews.

Details of the memorial service, to be held in Indianapolis in the fall, will be announced later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Stan’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org/.
