Scott McLaughlin wins IndyCar Series at Iowa Speedway Race 1, will start on pole Sunday

IndyCar returns to the Iowa Speedway for Race 1 on Saturday night.

Colton Herta will start out in front for the race while Scott McLaughlin snagged the pole for Race 2, which takes place tomorrow.

Final: Scott McLaughlin wins Race 1 at Iowa

Scott McLaughlin, who started second, won the Saturday night race at Iowa Speedway. It's his first career IndyCar oval win. McLaughlin will start on pole tomorrow.

Lap 225: Caution flag out after Colton Herta nearly spins out

Colton Herta nearly spun out. He corrected and was able to stay on the track. The caution flag came out right after.

Lap 211: Caution flag comes out for Linus Lundqvist

The caution flag is out once again after Linus Lundqvist pulled off on the side of the track.

Scott McLaughlin still leads, but Pato O'Ward is in second now and Scott Dixon is in third.

Lap 180: Alex Palou crashes into Turn 1 wall

Alex Palou, the championship leader, crashed. Palou appeared to lose control coming onto the front stretch and spun all the way around into the Turn 1 wall.

The top three are Scott McLaughlin, Scott Dixon and Pato O'Ward.

Lap 120: Will Power given penalty

Will Power received a drive-thru penalty for speeding on pit lane.

Lap 91: Scott McLaughlin takes the lead

Scott McLaughlin is out in front with Colton Herta in second and Scott Dixon in third.

The race went back into a caution after Graham Rahal's car slowed. Radio said his wheel was cracked. He's back on the track after going into the pits.

Alex Palou dropped to 19th after an extended stop.

Lap 54: Colton Herta remains in the lead at Iowa

Colton Herta, Scott McLaughlin and Alex Palou round out the top three after 54 laps.

Santino Ferrucci was given a drive-thru penalty.

Lap 1: Crash between drivers on Turn 2

Christian Lundgaard, Agustin Canapino and David Malukas were involved in a crash in Turn 2. The race is under caution.
