Why Participate? Aim to write 30,000 new words and earn a special Summer Writing Splash badge for your Inkitt profile. Additionally, stories with over 10,000 words that are approved by our content guidelines team will be showcased on our exclusive Summer Writing Splash shelf when they receive updates, giving your work the spotlight it deserves.

How It Works: Start by publishing your next chapter after June 20, 2024 and entering your story into this event. Keep updating your story/stories with new chapters, aiming for at least 30,000 total new words by the end of July. To stay featured on the Summer Story Fest shelf, publish a new chapter every 48 hours. Hit the target, and your badge will be added to your profile by August 15, 2024!

Contest Terms

The event will run from June 20 - July 31, 2024.
Badges will be added to Inkitt Profiles by August 15th, 2024.
The event covers NEW WORDS PUBLISHED to your stories. In order to enter, your most recent chapter needs to be published after the event starts.
To receive a badge, your story/stories combined need to reach 30,000 NEW WORDS PUBLISHED during the event.
Chapters cannot be deleted and must stay published.
You do not need to complete your story during the event in order to participate or receive a badge, you only need to reach the word count.
Previously published stories can be entered as long as they are receiving new updates during the event. Completed works are not allowed.
The minimum number of words to appear on the shelf for the event is 10,000 words. Stories must also be approved by the Content Guidelines team to appear on the shelf.
Stories behind a subscription paywall ARE allowed to participate in the event.
Stories can be written in any genre.
All stories exceeding 10,000 words and receiving updates during the event will be featured on the Summer Story Fest shelf.
To remain on the shelf throughout the event, your story must receive at least one new chapter every 48 hours.
You can submit as many stories as you would like, but will only receive one badge on your profile if you reach 30,000 new words.
