THE DETAILS OF THE ARREST FROM US MARSHALS, TRACKED DOWN 59 YEAR OLD JOSE CARDONA DOWN IN MODESTO AT A BUS STOP THURSDAY. I’M PLEASED TO SAY THE MANHUNT WAS SUCCESSFUL WITH THE APPREHENSION OF THE DEFENDANT IN MODESTO BACK ON JUNE 25TH. FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO A MOBILE HOME FIRE IN STOCKTON AND DISCOVERED THE THREE BODIES OF LIZBETH GUTIERREZ AND HER TWO SONS, AGES SIX AND TEN, ARSON INVESTIGATORS WITH THE STOCKTON FIRE DEPARTMENT SOON DETERMINED THAT THE VICTIMS WERE KILLED IN THE FIRE. THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE USE OF ACCELERANTS BY JOSE CARMEN CARDONA CARDONA AND ELIZABETH HAD ONCE DATED AND JUST A DAY AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE DA’S OFFICE SAID THEY FILED A LIST OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST CARDONA, LAUNCHING THE NATIONWIDE MANHUNT. MY TEAM WORKED AROUND THE CLOCK WITHOUT REST, RESPONDING TO TIPS FROM THE PUBLIC, CONDUCTING MULTIPLE INTERVIEWS, TRAVELING ACROSS SEVERAL STATES, AND SENDING OUT LEADS NATIONWIDE. OFFICIALS BELIEVE CARDONA WAS PLANNING TO LEAVE TO MEXICO AND ALREADY HAS A CRIMINAL HISTORY THAT HE’S HAD SEVERAL PRIOR ARRESTS AND THAT ALSO HE WAS IN OUR COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, HAVING BEEN DEPORTED SEVERAL TIMES. HE NOW FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES. THE DEFENDANT IS BEING CHARGED IN THE FIVE COUNTS WITH THE THREE MURDERS AND ONE ATTEMPTED MURDER, AND ONE CHILD ENDANGERMENT. THE OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY HAS FILED THREE SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES MULTIPLE MURDER, ARSON AND TORTURE. THESE ALLEGATIONS MAKE THE DEFENDANT ELIGIBLE FOR THE DEATH PENALTY. HIS FIRST COURT DATE IS SET FOR MONDAY AT 130. A man accused of killing a woman and two children after setting fire to a Stockton mobile home trailer in June has been arrested. José Carmen Cardona, 59, was taken into custody in Modesto on Friday, Stockton police said. Jail records show he faces charges that include murder, attempted murder, torture and child cruelty. A woman and two children died after the mobile home trailer was set on fire as they were sleeping on June 25, according to the Stockton Police Department. Officers were called to the fire at Visalia Court and Harbor Street around 6:38 a.m. to assist the Stockton Fire Department with suspected arson. Investigators had previously identified Carmona as a suspect and said he was known to the victims. They said he also has known aliases of José Carmona-Estrada, Roberto Giron-Giron, Félipe Ramírez León, Juan Alonzo-Alemndares, Juan Alonzo, José Avilla Cardona and Andrés Vecerra Torres.Cardona is expected in court on Monday. A woman and two children died after the mobile home trailer was set on fire as they were sleeping on June 25, according to the Stockton Police Department.

Officers were called to the fire at Visalia Court and Harbor Street around 6:38 a.m. to assist the Stockton Fire Department with suspected arson.
