KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An investigation is underway after a mom claimed her child came home from summer school drunk.

The alleged incident happened Monday at Guadalupe Centers. School officials say they immediately contacted the Missouri Department of Social Services after learning about the situation.

On Friday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Centers told KCTV5 this “may involve a child who ingested hand sanitizer.”

Earlier in the day, the Center sent out this statement, “Guadalupe Centers is working closely to understand the circumstances surrounding this matter thoroughly, reaffirming our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our children.

We cannot provide further details as this is an active investigation with which we are cooperating. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work diligently to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved.”

But one parent went to social media on Monday to describe what she said happened to her child.

On Facebook, the mom posted that she picked up her six-year-old from summer school and her child was intoxicated.

She claims her child was slurring their words, stumbling and even hit their head. She wrote that she took her child to the doctor to get tested. Those test results came back positive for a high level of alcohol.

The mom confirmed the posts and told KCTV5 her child is okay.

She declined an on-camera interview, on advice from an attorney.
