ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Reginald Maclaren was found guilty in the double homicide of his wife and disabled daughter from March 25, 2023.

The DA said that 83-year-old Reginald Maclaren called the Englewood police reporting that his wife and daughter were murdered. When police arrived, they saw the wife and daughter dismembered in trash cans. When officers investigated the apartment, they found an ax and handsaw.

Maclaren struck his wife and daughter multiple times with the ax and severed their bodies with a saw, according to the DA.

He eventually admitted guilt and told officers during questioning that he had lost his job and did not want to be homeless.

“Mr. Maclaren betrayed his family in a grizzly and senseless ambush that he planned for weeks,” Chief Deputy DA Jake Adkins said. “He violently murdered his wife and daughter and planned to dispose of their bodies like trash.”

Maclaren was convicted of first-degree murder, two counts of tampering with a deceased body, and false reporting.

His sentencing is scheduled for July 10.
