Dr. Clarence Edward Roeske passed away on July 9, 2024.

Born on September 5, 1930, Ed was a Wisconsin native residing in Ladysmith, Blackwell, Hawkins, and Tigerton. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1948. Ed then enlisted in the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict (1951 – 1953). He was assigned to the 5th Air Force. 801st Medical Air Evacuation Squadron becoming a decorated veteran.

After returning from the service, he enrolled and graduated from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin in 1957. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin. Ed then moved to Columbus, Ohio and taught at Worthington High School. During this time he continued his education at Ohio State University earning his MA and PHD degrees.

Ed became a facility member at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1968. He taught in the College of Education, Philosophy, and Social Foundation. He performed research and service with the Scott County and Oneida Tennessee special schools. By doing this work, he fulfilled his interest in rural education. He retired from the University of Tennessee in 1999 as Professor Emeritus.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Thiel Roeske; parents Clarence I. Roeske and Mary M. Roeske; and sister Yuvonne R. Lindow.

His son Michael and wife Susan, daughter Sandra Henshaw and husband Kelly, and a host of family and friends are left to cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends from 9am-10am on July 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with a funeral mass to follow at 10am. Interment will be on July 22, 2024 at 2pm at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Gov John Sevier Hwy.
