The Shanghai Resort and marina in Campbell County on Norris Lake has attracted people like Jim and Patty Cory of Cincinnati Ohio. Cory and his wife decided to dock their 17 x 81 foot house boat at Shanghai because the marina is part of the TVA's Clean Marina Program. That means the marina makes sure boaters do not dump sewage in the lake, which is appealing to Cory who entertains clients on his boat. Other clean marina practices include avoiding fuel spills and recycling. The Clean Marina program helps attract tourists and boost the local economy.

TVA has "clean marinas" which require boats to practice environmentally sound habits such as recycling and collecting and storing oil to keep water clean. It improves recreation, tourism and the economy and attracts jobs to the area. Shanghai Resort is still under construction improving their services to boaters on Norris Lake. 6/30/2005
