George Wayne White, 79, of DeSoto, KS passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at his home. Family celebration of life services will follow at a later date. George was born January 3, 1945 and raised in Emporia, KS where he attended school. And where later he met and married his wife Karen Scharff. Together they raise their family in Emporia and later Bonner Springs. George worked for 17 years at I.B.P. in Emporia and then later after moving to this area worked for the Johnson County Public Works for 19 years, retiring in 2009. George loved old muscle cars and trucks and especially his blue 1946 Chevy pick-up. He was very thrifty and like going to junkyards and thrift stores. George was proceeded in death by his mother Dorothy Mae White and stepfather Bob Martin, his grandmother Iva Amanda White his beloved aunt Lena DeWolfe and his baby brother Andy Martin. George is survived by his wife of 58 years Karen White of the home, four children Lori Lynne Conquest and her husband Kirk of Osage Beach, MO; Billy Wayne White of Emporia, KS; Jason Duane White and his wife Billie Jo AKA Josie of Bonner Springs, KS; Joshua James White and his wife Tara also of Bonner Springs, KS. Two sisters Linda Haney and Lisa Fletcher and four brothers John, Jim, Bill and Bobby Martin as well as 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren that will miss him greatly.
