I feel an important way to get parents involved is to get the children excited about upcoming events. The parents often follow the lead of the child when it comes to things at the school. You could also consider giving the child a role for the event so they will want to attend, which in turn, will bring the family along. Check with the family about their attendance before offering a role though, so the child is not disappointed if the parents say no to coming.
