Chalk up a VICTORY for freedom over cancel culture. ✌️ Last year, when two students at State University of New York Cortland tried to start a chapter of Turning Point USA on campus, they faced hostility and refusal from the student government. Now, to settle a lawsuit brought by ADF, the university and its student government have agreed to change their unconstitutional policies and pay $42,000. It’s a welcome win for students Gabriella Delorenzo and Megan Rothmund, who worked hard to form a TPUSA chapter, bringing together students who value freedom, free markets, and limited government. But the Student Senate withheld group status to the TPUSA chapter because it disagreed with the national organization’s views. In a grueling meeting, student senators questioned and demeaned Turning Point’s views for approximately 100 minutes. When the students raised the issue with SUNY Cortland President Erik Bitterbaum, he warned that they would likely be denied if they re-applied, telling them, “We silence voices all the time in this country. That’s the tragedy and also the greatness of democracy.” Of course, silencing voices is not the purpose of a university education. College officials should encourage students to respect and defend diverse beliefs, not silence opposing views. Thankfully, the First Amendment is still valid on campus. As a result of this lawsuit, SUNY Cortland ultimately decided to do the right thing. We’re glad the Student Government Association will now officially recognize the group and revise its policy to promote First Amendment freedom for all students.

If this could happen in Switzerland, it could happen anywhere. ⬇️ An ADF International case currently unfolding in Swiss courts involves loving parents who sought to address the mental health struggles of their daughter. In 2021, at age 13, she told her parents that her “gender identity” was male. The parents obtained mental health care for her and took their daughter to a hospital for help. There, doctors showed the girl a “gender unicorn” diagram—based entirely on feelings, not biology—and concluded she should go on puberty blockers. Her parents declined puberty blockers, realizing this would be hasty and unwise. Instead, they pursued private mental health care for their young daughter. At the same time, her school began to “socially transition” the girl against her parents’ explicit wishes. “Social transitioning” is a major intervention in a child’s life. As reported in the Cass Review, it paves the way for irreversible medical interventions. The parents shared scientific literature with the school detailing these harms. They also raised that many European government policies are moving away from “gender-affirming care.” But the school wouldn’t listen. It enlisted the state child welfare agency, along with a government-funded trans activist organization. The child welfare agency later told the parents: “Just accept that you have a son.” In April 2023, by court order, the young girl was separated from her parents and placed in a government home. Worse, this February, a court ordered the parents to hand over legal documents to allow their daughter to “transition,” paving the way for irreversible medical interventions like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical mutilation. The parents would have no say in making life-altering decisions for their teenage daughter. The parents lost their most recent appeal and are now moving forward with the support of ADF International to appeal again. It is morally abhorrent that Swiss authorities are attacking parental rights and pushing gender ideology on children. Parents have a right and responsibility to protect their children from harm. Don't forget: the attack on women is happening in America too. These girls are standing up to the Biden-Harris admin's attempts to erase women from their own sports, spaces, & opportunities in active lawsuits RIGHT NOW. This is who we're fighting for. #SaveWomensSports
