“Besides being the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research, the Alzheimer’s Association provides researchers with a phenomenal network and community. They also support science on a global level. Our understanding of Alzheimer's and disease research is not equal across all parts of the globe, but the Alzheimer's Association is doing a phenomenal job trying to equalize that.” -Nilufer Ertekin-Taner, M.D., Ph.D., an Alzheimer’s Association funded neuroscientist, behavioral neurologist and Chair of Department of Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic, and member of ISTAART. #BrightMinds #ALZFunded #AAIC24

Dr. Alexander Ehrenberg is one of the bright minds 💡 advancing dementia science. “I didn't realize how special it was that young researchers can play a big role in making fundamental discoveries within the field. And the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART) facilitated a lot of that through connections between senior researchers and younger researchers. They invest in a diversity of people, a diversity of disciplines, a diversity of regions. It's given me, and I think a lot of other young researchers, a global perspective that's been immeasurably valuable.” Dr. Ehrenberg, a recent Ph.D. graduate who is starting a faculty position at University of California, San Francisco's Memory and Aging Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute next month, credits ISTAART with helping him become a part of an international community and advancing not just his own work, but work from researchers around the world. #BrightMinds
