Good jobs are a critical component of any person’s journey to recovery, re-entry, and habilitation! We're excited to share that the South LA All In “Good Jobs, Healthy Communities” (SLAAI-GJHC), a project we are partnered on, has been awarded $20 million in federal funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The SLAAI-GJHC project, led by Coalition for Responsible Community Development, will train South LA residents to develop pathways to good-paying jobs! "As an organization focused on the safety, healing, and longevity of historically underserved communities in South Los Angeles, we are excited to put this EPA grant to work providing good jobs to those who — as currently and formerly incarcerated individuals — would otherwise struggle to find employment," says Amity Foundation CEO Doug Bond. Thank you to the Biden-Harris administration for your continued investments in the communities we serve. Learn more about this award and the SLAAI-GJHC project, on the CRCD website! https://lnkd.in/gSGGH9by

Improving public safety means ensuring formerly incarcerated people have the resources to successfully re-enter our communities. It means ending the cycle of incarceration to homelessness. It means taking ✨care ✨ of our communities. Thank you 13th & Park for having our CEO Doug Bond on ""Let's Talk"" with our friend and collaborator Scott Budnik from Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/g74adyFh

At Amity Foundation, we love to celebrate our students, and there's no better cause for celebration than graduations! 👏 Last week, three of our students gained their GED's through @fivekeysschoolsandprograms. Amity Foundation sends a heartfelt congratulations to our student, Rafaella! 👏 This graduation season she earned her associate's degree in psychology from Chaffey College and is accepting admission into UC Berkeley! While she was incarcerated, Rafaella heard about CCTRP and chose to become a student at La Entrada to embark on her recovery journey. While there she found the opportunity to continue her education and through her determination, she completed her associate's degree in only two semesters!

Transforming San Quentin prison into a rehabilitation and education center is good for public safety! The programs offered give incarcerated individuals the tools and skills needed to return to society successfully. Amity Foundation thanks Governor Gavin Newsom for his leadership on transforming California's prisons. Great coverage from Gianna Toboni for CBS News https://lnkd.in/gC4Si6Xt

Collaborations between the public & private sectors ensure programs that prepare our communities for successful re-entry are fully realized! California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's partnership with 20 national funders (including Ford Foundation & Meadow Fund) and 200 nonprofit service providers (including Amity Foundation) made their Returning Home Well Housing Project - which provides wraparound services for formerly incarcerated folks - a reality. 📰 Great piece from Kathleen Kelly Janus in Stanford Social Innovation Review about the importance of these partnerships! https://lnkd.in/gB4fNzRS"
