We are still so thrilled to have been a part of University of Michigan Solar Car Team winning last month's American Solar Challenge! 🏆 👇Read on to see what the team said about the impact our Amprius technology had on their solar car performance: "On the first day of the #FormulaSunGrandPrix, we took a corner too fast on our 18th lap. This brought the car into an unstable condition which caused it to roll. During the roll, our solar array and aerobody were damaged and had to be repaired, the battery however, remained in excellent condition. We were extremely happy to see that the battery had not only survived a car rollover, but needed almost no repairs to get back on the track. Beyond their robust mechanical packaging, the cells themselves were the real hero for the race. With a damaged array we were bringing in less power than normal, but the high capacity of the Amprius cells helped ensure that we could travel further than all other teams during the American Solar Challenge. #ASC also brought challenges like steep hills and high temperatures, but the cells handled high continuous discharge like a champ, running cool and reliably up even an 11.5% hill. Of course, this is all after the same battery pack raced in the World Solar Challenge. Even after months of transport and a bit more cycling, we saw very little degradation of the pack.
