ABC is proud to be one of the largest provider of apprenticeship training in the state, with our members investing millions annually in workforce development. Our challenge to St. Petersburg’s ordinances wasn’t about opposing apprentices or disadvantaged workers—it was about addressing the unrealistic goals imposed by the city. These goals were backed by severe penalties, such as fines and disqualification from future projects, which stifled competition and hindered the growth of apprenticeship programs and opportunities for disadvantaged workers. 🎉 Victory Finalized! 🎉 We are thrilled to announce that our court victory against St. Petersburg’s restrictive building ordinances is now FINAL! After years of litigation and an appeal, the City has decided not to challenge the ruling, ensuring that construction projects will proceed with fair and open competition. The court struck down rules that unfairly mandated specific hiring practices and wages, benefiting taxpayers by reducing costs and creating more opportunities for small businesses.
