About us

BakerRipley is the largest charitable organization in Texas and hosts a network of over 70 service sites that help more than half a million people earn, learn, belong, and be well. We fulfill our mission to bring resources, education, and connection by working with our neighbors side by side. We are committed to being the #1 place to work in Houston. Our values are based on what we believe about people and neighborhoods. That they're good. That they're worth it. Our teams have a few things in common: We're passionate about what we do, we have fun doing it, and we couldn't see ourselves doing anything else.

Today, July 26, we celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as part of National Disability Independence Day! On this day in 1990, the U.S. made it illegal to discriminate against individuals with disabilities and provided these citizens with better access to goods, services, employment opportunities, and so much more. At BakerRipley, we celebrate our strengths in all forms. Every one of our centers are ADA accessible and we have employees and volunteers who speak most of the languages our neighbors speak because above all else, we want everyone who comes through our doors to feel like they belong.

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to a generous $20,000 donation from TXU Energy, BakerRipley successfully distributed hundreds of fans to Houston-area families in need. Earlier this week, nearly 250 fans were handed out during our regular food distribution event at BakerRipley Ripley House. This effort was part of TXU Energy's long-standing Beat the Heat program, which has been helping Texans stay safe and cool for 25 years. Thank you, TXU Energy, for your continued support and commitment to our community! #BeatTheHeat #CommunitySupport #BakerRipley #TXUEnergy

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Felix Zamarron Fraga, a lifelong member of the Second Ward (East End) and a dedicated leader in our community. Felix served BakerRipley with passion, from attending Rusk Settlement House Daycare at age three to becoming the Director of Ripley House for 20 years. He also made significant contributions as a Houston ISD Board member and Houston City Councilman. We will forever be grateful to Felix and his family for their enduring support and compassionate leadership. We are incredibly grateful to the Houston Texans for their unwavering support at our recent Houston Texans Food Distribution event at the BakerRipley East Aldine Campus.  Special thanks to Houston Texans fullback Moran Norris and retired legend Anthony Hill for their dedication to our community. The Texans have truly gone above and beyond to support Houstonians in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. They are more than just a sports team; they are true champions of our community. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Houston Food Bank and HP Inc. for their invaluable contributions. Together, we helped hundreds of Neighbors, taking the first steps in their recovery journey. Thank you for making this event a major success!
