Happy National Farmers Market Week! 🥬 Last week, we got ahead of the weekly celebration at the BROCKTON FARMERS MARKET! Thank you to Commissioner Ashley Randle from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources for attending and checking out our Leafy Green Machine Mobile Freight Farms Food Truck! Farmers market leaders nationwide recognize this annual celebration (now in its 25th year!) as an opportunity to connect with their communities, build relationships with local, state, and federal officials, secure sponsorship and grant funding, encourage data collection and research, and more. #BGCMetroSouth #GreatFutures #NationalFarmersMarketWeek #FarmersMarket

About us
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South is the preeminent youth development organization in Southeastern Massachusetts, serving more than 2,500 youth annually from nearly 50 communities at our Clubhouses in Brockton and Taunton, Camp Riverside, and community extension sites. BGCMS is fueled by a critical mission "to nurture strong minds, healthy bodies and community spirit through youth-driven, high-impact programming in safe and fun environments" to ensure that every child has a positive place to spend their out-of-school-time hours. We hold an intrinsic belief that every child deserves an equal chance to pursue the American Dream, to have a genuine opportunity to realize their full potential – to achieve a great future. We view ourselves as an important part of the bright future of the Metro South region and with the guidance of our dynamic senior leadership team and Board of Directors, the quality and reach of our programs have soared to new heights over the past decade. As chartered members of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we employ the national Movement's "Formula for Impact" model that focuses on three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Leadership Development. Our approach to driving systematic change is to address issues head-on, talking early and often with our youth about the importance of setting goals, leveraging opportunities, and developing healthy relationships with others and most importantly with themselves. We believe in an interdisciplinary approach to youth development, and so we work to address the root causes of the challenges facing our region’s youth. When a child's basic needs – from nurturing to nutrition – are not met, they struggle to thrive in the classroom and to make smart choices during out-of-school-time. Every day, we’re helping youth build great futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Critically, annual Club memberships cost just $35!

This #ThankfulThursday, we are extending a huge thank you to Rodman for Kids for their one-of-a-kind partnership! Last week a group of our teen members were gifted the opportunity to see a performance of the world premiere of Gatsby the Musical at the American Repertoire Theatre in Cambridge, MA! Rodman for Kids provided our members, alongside hundreds of other Greater Boston youth, an energy-filled experience through their Theatre for Kids Program. Over the past 15+ years, the Marilyn Rodman Theatre for Kids program has sent over 60,000+ at-risk youth to dozens of professional theatre productions! Rodman for Kids provides comprehensive support, including fundraising and organizational resources, to youth-focused charities of all sizes. In addition, Rodman for Kids provides space and programs for collaboration, networking, professional development, and best practices for Charity Partners, like us! Today's #WhyIVolunteer spotlight is with Regina Cattel! Earlier this month, we had The Phia Group join us out at Camp Riverside to give back their time during a fun-filled day of pirate-themed adventures. We are so appreciative to all the Phians who laughed, played and created with our Campers! A BIG thanks to Regina, a Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South Emerging Leader who caried out the vision and helped our Campers make lasting memories that they will be sure to treasure forever! We asked Regina to share what volunteering means to her. If you would also like to join us as a volunteer, you can find more information here: https://lnkd.in/eGA-tfKp 💙 #GreatFutures #BGCMetroSouth #GreatFutureStartHere #nonprofit #YouthDevelopment #givingback #grateful #GreatFutures

We are so excited to share that last week, a group of our Brockton Clubhouse teen members attended Boys & Girls Clubs of America's 2024 Summit for America's Youth in Washington, D.C. to advocate on behalf of Club kids across the nation as part of Family Dollar's Think, Learn, Create Change (TLC) partnership with BGCA. The TLC initiative provides tools, trainings, and experiences for Club teens to learn about and develop innovative solutions to improve their communities through driving youth voice, critical thinking, and teen advocacy initiatives on key areas impacting young people. As part of the TLC program, our Club teens were challenged to develop or align with an existing youth advocacy initiative to address top issues impacting youth in their community, utilizing the skills they learned during the webinar and leadership development sessions! The Summit for America's Youth is BGCA’s premier youth advocacy event where Club youth get the opportunity to experience our Nation’s capital and share their stories with members of Congress while also receiving in-depth trainings and resources. We are so grateful that our members got to experience this amazing opportunity and we are so proud to see them step into their power as community leaders, advocates, and change agents! 💙 #BGCMetroSouth #GreatFutures #SummitforAmericasYouth #BGCA
