🎉🌟 A round of applause for the heroes of our industry! 🌟🎉   Last Thursday was a night to remember at the #2024NWPPAEO awards banquet, with 29 awards presented.   Robert Echenrode, general manager and CEO of Umatilla Electric Cooperative, received the prestigious Excellence in Engineering or Operations Award for his exceptional contributions to the industry.   On top of that, three teams, one from Lewis County Public Utility District, another from Energy Northwest, and a third from Bonneville Power Administration/TFH Construction, earned the Safety Heroism Awards for their lifesaving actions.   But the excellence doesn't stop there! Twenty-two utilities/utility associations placed in the 2024 Safety Contest! Congratulations to Wasco Electric Cooperative Inc.; Sun River Electric Cooperative, Inc.; Ohop Mutual Light Company; Lincoln Electric Cooperative, Inc.; Blachly-Lane Electric Cooperative; Clatskanie PUD; Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative; Mason County PUD No. 3; Columbia River PUD; Douglas Electric Cooperative; Lane Electric Cooperative; Mission Valley Power; Midstate Electric Cooperative; Inland Power & Light Co.; Public Utility District #1 of Okanogan County; Idaho Falls Power; Mason County PUD No. 3; the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB); Cowlitz PUD; Energy Northwest; Clark Public Utilities; and SMUD.   Finally, three companies were honored for their displays and enthusiasm at this year's trade show. General Pacific, Inc. (GenPac) won Theme of Conference, VANQUISH Fencing Solutions won Best Presentation of Product, and Maddox Industrial Transformer won Best Enthusiasm. The Department of Energy has finalized new energy efficiency standards for distribution transformers, giving manufacturers more time to meet them and easing requirements that would have forced the use of less durable, hard-to-find amorphous steel in most transformers. The final rule reflects NRECA’s advocacy priorities to maintain use of grain-oriented electrical steel and to allow manufacturers more time for compliance to help keep the focus on increased output to meet electric cooperatives’ demand for transformers. We're excited to share that the Northwest RiverPartners Board of Directors has selected Clark Mather as the association’s next executive director. Mather will officially take over leadership responsibilities on April 1. Heather Stebbings, who has served as interim executive director since December 1, 2023, will assist in the transition process. Electric cooperatives had another strong showing in the annual J.D. Power rankings for residential customer satisfaction, with seven co-ops among the 10 highest-scoring utilities in the study. Collectively, co-ops averaged a score of 753 on a 1,000-point scale, the highest among all utility segments in the study. https://bit.ly/3SlNuuP
