Black entrepreneurs always overcome, but we need to talk about one of the most common challenges they face: limited access to resources and funding. VC funding for Black-owned businesses fell 71% in the U.S. last year, and funding for Black businesses continues to make up less than 1% of all VC support. Black business ownership is growing at the fastest pace in 30 years. For most of these entrepreneurs, their business is their primary source of income. Supporting Black-owned businesses doesn't stop at purchases—it’s about investing in a more equitable and thriving economy. If you're a Black business owner, we want to know: What's been your greatest challenge to date? #BlackBusiness #NationalBlackBusinessMonth #BlackEntrepreneurs

Diverse teams aren't a trend or a check on a list—they’re essential for driving innovation and achieving greater results. Just look at the data: Forbes found that diverse teams achieved 60% better results with their decisions and executions. Plus, McKinsey & Company reveals that diverse and inclusive companies are 35% more likely to financially surpass their competitors. There appears to be a grave misunderstanding about the importance of building teams that look like our vibrant communities. So, let us be clear. Investing in diversity and inclusion is not just a business imperative. It's a strategic commitment that's good for your bottom line, too. Misinformed commentary that downplays the skills of Black talent and claims otherwise is offensive (and reeks of racism). We know firsthand that there are organizations putting in the time and effort to build a more equitable workforce, and in return they're finding their full potential. Is your business committed to being part of this future? #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #InclusiveBusiness #DEIStrategy

Celebrating Black businesses? It's what we do. 👏🏾 Sheldon Goins is the owner of Black Beauty Brewery, the first Black-owned brewery in Bowie, MD. After losing his job in 2020, Sheldon turned the challenge into an opportunity by crafting his own beer and making history as an entrepreneur. As we celebrate National Black Business Month, let’s raise a glass to Sheldon and all the incredible Black-owned businesses out there. Cheers to success and resilience! Tech being used for good will always be something we celebrate. 👏🏾 In a new initiative to help Black Americans expand their family history research, Ancestry is now using AI technology to help users discover the names and lives of former enslaved family members. ⬇️ In June, the company announced the release of a free collection of 38,000 newspaper articles, documenting the lives of over 183,00 enslaved people in the U.S. from 1788 to 1867. “Greater access to these records on Ancestry will enhance understanding of how chattel slavery and the forced movement of enslaved people became normalized in the United States,” said Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado, assistant professor of Africana studies at Morehouse College. Will you be utilizing this new feature? Check out the full story on AFROTECH: https://lnkd.in/gRk8rBf6 #BlackHistory #Ancestry #TechForGood
