Kamala Harris’ pick for running mate could lead to cascading political impacts in some of the most closely divided states in the country, or the finely balanced US Senate. Most of the potential drama centers on the list of governors she’s reportedly considering as her vice presidential nominee, though if she chooses Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) it could affect the Senate. Anyone Harris picks could remain in office during the campaign, so the fallout would mostly come if she wins — with the notable exception of North Carolina.
