Love this op-ed David Risher! We've been thinking a lot about the loneliness epidemic at Bookclubs and what it means for our critical mission to inspire meaningful personal connections through books. Over half of the adult population in the US reads at least one book a month and could benefit from the magic of a book club experience! We're continuously updating our tech to combat social isolation and bring people together with a book as the starting point for relationship and community building, in person or virtually. Our latest feature launch: in-app video meetings! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gknt5hPG
I've been thinking a lot about the tech industry's role in what Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy calls our "epidemic of loneliness." So I wrote an op-ed for Insider that spells out how we got here, and what we can do to fix it. My view: Sure, strong product-market fit satisfies customers' immediate needs and create a good business. But we should hold ourselves to a higher standard and help improve people's lives. And that requires *product-purpose* fit. I hope you'll read the Insider piece to see what I mean, and share your feedback in the comments below. https://lnkd.in/g_is3Xh6
