As part of BGCGW's summertime offerings, Director of Youth Engagement and Empowerment Dr. Christie Murray, hosted this year's YCCES to guide youth through the process of selecting a college and career path the best suits their talents, needs, and individual goals. Themed, "Educate, Empower, and Equip Young Adults for Excellence," the summit was divided into sessions that included the topics in financial planning, self-care and mental health, and advocacy. Sessions were led by volunteers with specific expertise in each concentration. Watch for the video below for closing thoughts from attendees. #GreatFuturesStartHere #YouthEmpowerment #BGCGW

About us
Great Futures Start HERE. Our Mission: The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who need us most, build confidence, develop character and acquire the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults. Company Overview: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington was established in 1886 as the Newsboys and Children's Aid Society . In the early 1900's, the Working Boys Home and Aide Association replaced this organization and enlarged the scope of service to neighborhood boys. With the support of the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C., a board of trustees was established and the name changed to Boys Clubs of Washington. In 1973, Boys Clubs of Washington began serving girls as full and equal members. In July of 1981, Boys Clubs of Washington changed its name to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to reflect its new direction. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is now one of the largest affiliates of Boys & Girls Clubs of America with 18 Clubs, 1 outreach site, and 3 satellite sites over a 75-mile radius from Frederickburg, Virginia to Germantown, Maryland as well as a residential summer camp in Southern Maryland.

Just a note of thanks to the Washington Commanders. We were invited to training camp to witness the team’s summertime practice. I admire their work ethic in this heat! But the highlights for me were having the opportunity to speak with team president, Jason Wright and Washington Commanders Foundation VP/Executive Director, Val Biberaj and so many of our region’s influential community leaders like DC Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith. We appreciate any and all opportunities to strengthen our collective efforts to do what’s needed for our kids to feel safe, supported, and have opportunities for great futures. #GreatFuturesStartHere #Commanders #HTTC Brett Greene Kimberly Lane Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington

What an honor to attend the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture with over 75 youth from across the country who participated in our Center of Transformation Summit June 16-21, 2024. At the museum, our youth immersed themselves in the profound history of African Americans and were inspired by the powerful exhibits and stories spanning centuries that celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of African Americans. #BGCGW #GreatFuturesStartHere

You are a change maker! You have given to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, and it made a DIFFERENCE! It provided Club memberships! Our “ALL IN” Campaign is working to raise $50,000 over the next two weeks to create pathways for the next generation of athletes. >>https://bgcgw.org/all-in/<< For Club alumni competing in Paris, we would like to think we helped them with their sport, but the reality, is that we helped them – and all of our Club kids – prepare for today’s world. What you give today directly translates into a better future for all of us. Go “ALL IN” with us today, your donation could secure a place at the top of the podium tomorrow. #GreatFuturesStartHere #BGCGW
