Listen to the new episode of @21stshow! Brian and CFAAR’s Dr. Waheeda Samady discuss the early introduction of peanut guidelines. Not all parents are aware of the guidelines. The research encourages parents to expose peanuts to children as young as 4 months old to decrease their likelihood of developing a #peanutallergy. Listen to the full episode: https://bit.ly/3SBjj3F

Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar — who was once a member of the U.S national team suffered a “scary” allergic reaction in Paris’ Olympic Village that sent her to the hospital on Monday. She was expected to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics for the Philippines. Levi shared that she was walking through the Olympic Village Monday night when she suffered a severe allergic reaction, despite not having eaten for hours. She shared on instagram that she injected herself with Epi. “I am unaware what caused this reaction as I didn’t have food 3 hours prior to when I started to feel the symptoms.” Remember, when in doubt use your epinephrine auto-injector! Congratulations to all the CFAAR Scholars interns for their hard work this summer! The CFAAR Scholars Program is an immersive 6-week long internship program for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. The Scholars worked alongside our CFAAR faculty and staff mentors, attended weekly didactic sessions, worked on multiple research projects, and assisted with summer conferences. On the final day of the program the students presented poster abstracts on a research topic of their choice. The Scholars Cohort did an incredible job this summer! Thank you to CFAAR’s Education and Programming teams for putting together another incredible program! #CFAARtogether #scholarsprogram #northwesternuniversity #luriechildrens
