CDC published an Influenza Risk Assessment Tool (IRAT) report for a virus that caused H5N1 bird flu in a person in Texas who had exposure to sick dairy cows. This virus scored similar to past assessments of other avian influenza A(H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b viruses. The results of this IRAT validate the proactive, coordinated U.S. government response. Assessing risk is an iterative process with new information being assimilated regularly and response activities adjusted as indicated. https://bit.ly/3M4DnI0

Health Care Providers: A new collaborative study from CDC, Indian Health Service (IHS), and the Alzheimer's Association® using IHS data is the first to provide dementia estimates among American Indian and Alaska Native populations who receive health care services from IHS. According to research, approximately 14% of American Indian and Alaska Native IHS patients experienced early-onset dementia from 2016 to 2020. This research emphasizes the importance of discussing the signs and symptoms of dementia with patients, especially for clinicians who work with IHS or American Indian or Alaska Native patients. It’s important for patients to know memory loss that disrupts their daily lives is not a normal part of aging. Discover more findings from this newly released research at: https://bit.ly/3AaGZ8M
