With June being Great Outdoors Month, we asked Alliance staff to share how they celebrate the outdoors – and they did not disappoint! • Sky Collins, our Web and Digital Media Developer, says he and his wife are always looking to explore "the best state in the union," California. From Mount Shasta to Yosemite National Park, there are no shortages of places to visit. •Marketing and Communications Director Linda Gorman, APR, M.A. says she feels most at home on the trail. She shared photos from her trip to Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, where her family trekked over 21 miles. •Van Wong, our Chief Operating Officer, visited Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona this summer. She says her family had a fantastic time touring the canyon—which they got to see by kayaking! These are just a few stories our staff shared about how they connect with nature. How are you connecting with nature this summer? #outdoors #health #summer

About us
Central California Alliance for Health (the Alliance) is an award-winning regional Medi-Cal managed care plan that provides health insurance for children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities in Mariposa, Merced, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties. We currently serve more than 418,000 members. Founded in 1996, the Alliance was established to improve access to health care for lower income residents. We have pursued this mission by linking members to primary care physicians and clinics who assist in managing their care. Our vision is: Healthy People. Healthy Communities. That vision remains at the forefront of the work we do every day. Come join our team!

We are happy to have helped Si Se Puede Behavioral Health Center find its new home! The Alliance awarded Encompass $2.65 million in grant funding for the construction of Si Se Puede, which will offer bilingual and monolingual treatment to clients experiencing substance abuse and mental health issues. The program, operated by Encompass Community Services, will provide services like counseling, therapy, housing support, medication, youth intervention, case management, transitional services and more. June is Immigrant Heritage Month! This is a time to celebrate all the ways that immigrants give to and share in our communities. At the Alliance, we are committed to cultural competence to ensure that members of diverse cultures and backgrounds can access the quality care they need. Here is how we are promoting and improving cultural competence among our staff: Staff training and education. We offer comprehensive training programs that cover various aspects of cultural competence, including workshops, seminars and online courses. Culturally diverse workforce. We strive to build a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. Language services. Our Cultural & Linguistic Services Program provides language services, including interpretation and translation, to ensure that language barriers do not impede access to care. Together, we can continue to build a health care system that recognizes and values the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our community. #healthycommunities #managedcare #culture

The Merced County Office of Education is one of our Equity Learning for Health Professionals grant recipients. They are using their grant funding to hold a 48-hour training series called How the Physiology of Generational & Historical Trauma Impacts Equity. "Our goal with this grant from the Alliance is to give health professionals in Merced County the knowledge and ability to promote diversity and inclusion in their workplaces, communicate in a culturally competent manner with Medi-Cal members and other clients, and create internal policies at their clinics that promote equity," said Dennis Haines, County Office of Education’s Family Resource Center.
