    Effective interim management knows which areas to give up control in. They surround themselves with good talent and delegate tasks according to their capabilities. Here are some tips on delegation from Interim Executives. Some leaders try to do everything themselves. While this might work temporarily, it’s unsustainable in the long run. Responsibilities will eventually pile up, hindering the leader’s ability to focus on big-picture strategies. If you have capable people around you, take advantage of their skills and start delegating with these Interim Executive tips on delegation. 1.  Schedule Create a schedule to effectively delegate tasks. Assign tasks to employees, interns, or independent contractors, and set deadlines that align with your agenda. Use an application to track everyone’s activities and ensure continuous progress. Don’t spend time creating the schedule yourself—delegate that task to your employees. This not only gives them more control and flexibility but also makes them invested in the organization’s success by contributing to a core function. 2.  Stay Involved Delegation involves giving up control, but it doesn’t mean you can no longer be involved in the task or project. Start by setting clear goals and expectations both verbally and in written form. Written instructions provide a reference point, while verbal communication allows for discussion of any concerns or questions. After setting expectations, let your team work at their own pace. However, check in for progress updates and offer feedback as needed. If someone is struggling, don’t immediately take the task back.
