City of Bowie Sustainability Manager Ashleigh Diaz presented on composting and food waste during the Green Hat Summit hosted by Prince George’s County Council Member Ingrid Watson. During her presentation, Ashleigh discussed the definition of composting, how to turn food and yard waste into compost, and what items are compostable. The City’s Curbside Food Waste program has nearly 300 participants with over 100 people on the waitlist for expansion. The program will cover new neighborhoods beginning in FY26.
