CEBA appreciates the partnership of the U.S. Department of State and the efforts of Thailand's Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission in holding this event and looks forward to continuing the discussion to ensure energy customers have affordable and accessible pathways to drive new clean energy onto the grid globally.
Exciting development! Earlier this week, ENR's Clean Energy Demand Initiative (CEDI) and Thailand’s Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (OERC) hosted a public-private roundtable on Thailand’s NEW Utility Green Tarriff (UGT), which will allow companies to purchase clean energy in Thailand starting this Fall. This work builds on #CEDI collaboration to spur clean energy investment through corporate procurement. The event featured remarks from Anna Shpitsberg, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Transformation at the U.S. Department of State, Dr. Poonpat Leesombatpiboon, Secretary General of OERC, and Director General Shinichi Kihara of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Investment (METI). Over 50 private sector participants joined the event, including representatives from CEDI companies, their suppliers, and Japanese companies active in Thailand. During the roundtable, OERC presented on their 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗨𝗚𝗧 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 and industry participants had the opportunity to ask questions about implementation and access to the new scheme. DAS Shpitsberg noted the event was “an example of how, by working together, we can develop and implement policies that spur investment in clean energy that in turn contributes to reliability and affordability and supports commercial and industrial growth.” DAS Shpitsberg also 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⚡ 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 ⚡ 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗘𝗗𝗜.
