The world wasn’t built with people with disabilities in mind, and because of that, the world we live in is inherently ableist. Ableism is the discrimination against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. One way to take an active part in normalizing disabilities is committing to being a disability ally and learning to recognize ableism when you see it and how to take actions to call it out. Some examples of ableism include: - Lack of compliance with ADA laws - Assuming someone with disabilities wants to be “fixed” - Buildings without braille on signs Join us in committing to being a disability ally during Disability Pride Month and beyond! . . . #DisabilityPride #DisabilityPrideMonth #HealthcareForAll #CommunityHealthCenter #CommunityResources #CommunityHealth #AffordableHealthcare #HealthcareSolutions #CHCSno

Meet Kayla Watson, our dedicated Medical Practice Manager at the Edmonds Medical Clinic! Growing up in Mountlake Terrace and living in Snohomish County all her life, Kayla is now giving back to her community through her work at CHC. With a decade of experience in healthcare, she chose to work for CHC because she resonates with their mission to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare for everyone, making her role incredibly rewarding. Kayla recognizes the difficulties many face in accessing medical and dental care, which makes her proud of the work CHC staff and providers do to make healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status. She is passionate about reaching out to those who lack the resources to improve their health, believing that everyone deserves access to healthcare and resources that can make a positive impact in their lives. Having seen firsthand how CHC finds ways to achieve this, Kayla hopes CHC continues to grow in promoting inclusivity and diversity in the community. We're proud to have Kayla on our team, making a difference every day! . . . #CHCSno #HealthcareForAll #CommunityHealthCenter #CommunityResources

With the school’s masquerade-themed prom just a few weeks away, dental providers at our school-based health center at Mountlake Terrace High School are getting in on the fun by encouraging students to “unmask a brighter smile” with a dental cleaning. 😁 Prom is a special occasion, and ensuring students have healthy smiles is just one way the health center supports students’ overall well-being and ensures students have access to essential healthcare services that matter to them. . . . #StudentHealth #DentalCleaning #DentalCare #CommunityHealth
