About us

Community Medical Center (CMC) is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care teaching hospital offering area residents high quality, highly sophisticated medical treatment close to home. Opened in 1961, CMC has evolved into Ocean County’s largest and most active health care facility. Community Medical Center offers a comprehensive array of services, including advanced cancer care, state-of-the art neurology and neurosurgery services with a neuro-interventional lab and a bi-plane, and cardiac care featuring four cardiac catheterization labs. Surgical services feature two da Vinci robotic surgical platforms including the latest generation da Vinci Xi, and the Mako robotic-arm assisted system for joint replacement surgery. CMC offers additional technology typically not found at a community hospital, including a 3-Tesla MRI, digital mammography, the Rapid Arc linear accelerator, a CyberKnife for treating inoperable tumors and the Veran Lung Navigation System. We are one of the area’s most trusted providers of maternal and children’s services, offering superior obstetric care, a Level II special care nursery with 24/7 onsite neonatologists for newborns requiring special care, a midwifery program, a dedicated pediatric unit, and a pediatrician in the emergency department. The emergency department is one of the largest providers of emergency care in New Jersey, with highly skilled emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. Specialized care is also offered through the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, the Center for Bariatrics, and the Women’s Imaging Center.

  • We are thrilled to announce the graduation of the first class of bilingual-qualified Spanish interpreters at Community Medical Center (CMC)! To be eligible for the nine-week rigorous course through the Rutgers Language Center, the employees first had to pass an Oral Proficiency Exam. Once the course was completed, the employees received a certificate of qualification to interpret at CMC. The hospital held a special graduation ceremony to mark the occasion. This milestone marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing quality care to all patients, especially those with limited English proficiency. The team of trained interpreters fluent in Spanish and English will help to bridge the communication gap between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients, ensuring that individuals receive the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their health. This achievement will profoundly impact the overall patient experience and help us better serve our diverse community. All program costs for employees, including testing and materials, were covered by the CMC Foundation as part of their support of employee education. Congratulations to our graduates!
