About us

Executive Presence is an executive communications consulting company. We provide strategy, content creation, implementation, and analytics services for executives at high-growth companies. Our approach helps top-tier executives boost their visibility, activate their network, and position themselves as thought leaders via our premium, fully-managed LinkedIn service. Our services include: > Personalized strategy > Content creation > Data analysis & optimization Our unique process involves ex-McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and Accenture consultants who work with our clients to develop their strategy, efficiently create high-performing content, and use data to iterate and improve their content strategy. We have worked with 150+ CEOs and leaders to help them use LinkedIn to: > Build a brand > Fundraise > Hire & retain key talent > Acquire customers > Build partnerships Most executives don't realize four critical things about LinkedIn: #1: Individuals over companies On social media, people interact with other people, not faceless corporations. The most effective way to build a company’s brand is through the personal profiles of its key leaders. A post from an Executive leverages their existing network of other business leaders, and more efficiently builds trust. #2: Educate, don’t sell If an Executive only posts about their company, they will lose engagement. 80% of the content we produce is designed to educate, not sell. By consistently adding value through Subject Matter Expertise content, an Executive grows their audience to create greater reach for their rare company-centric posts. #3: Post original content Social networks reward original content. Articles drive content away from a social network and receive an algorithmic penalty. Reposts receive a fraction of the views of original content. Thought leadership is built through original, value-added content. #4: Post 2 to 5 times per week To grow an audience and be top-of-mind with your network.

Mark Cuban can break LinkedIn rules. You can’t. Here’s why: most celebrity executives have enormous success on LinkedIn IN SPITE OF their tactics, not BECAUSE of them. A great example is former Shark Tank judge and serial entrepreneur Mark Cuban. He can get away with lazy content creation - like in the post below - because he’s already built a brand. When you have 7 million followers, sharing an article is bound to get you traction… even if you have bad grammar. But sorry to say that for the rest of us, sharing articles doesn’t work on LinkedIn. Celebrities can be your inspiration in real life, but not when it comes to LinkedIn posts.

Hijacking the news is a great LinkedIn strategy. Being among the first to offer thoughtful commentary on top-of-mind news stories can significantly boost your LinkedIn visibility. Here’s why we’ve seen this approach work: 1. Demand for Insight: Big news creates a heightened need for analysis. People are looking for clarity on what it means for them, their businesses, or their communities. Your timely perspective can fill this gap. 2. Original Analysis Over Reposts: Simply sharing or reposting articles isn’t as effective. Providing a detailed, original take—especially if you're quick to respond—can drive more engagement and position you as a thought leader. 3. Capitalize on Timing: The sooner you provide meaningful insight on breaking news, the more attention you’re likely to attract. Use these moments to showcase your expertise and engage with a wider audience. Writing about breaking news could lead to your big break on LinkedIn.

You could say we’re expert interviewers. We’ve conducted over 900 interviews to help executives generate LinkedIn content. So for anybody who wants to try the interview method out on their own, our team put together 5 tips: 1. Create a strong container. This means your Zoom video should be on, you should be in a quiet, focused environment, and you shouldn’t be afraid to let your thoughts flow. 2. Start open-ended. Kick-off with a broad question like, "What’s top of mind for you right now?" This encourages the speaker to reflect and share deep, meaningful insights. 3. Use the questions as a guide, not a script. Send 5-10 questions in advance, but let the conversation flow naturally. 4. Use questions as a springboard. Don’t worry about covering all the questions. Dive deeper into interesting points as they arise. 5. Transcribe for efficiency. Use tools like Otter.ai to transcribe interviews. This makes it easy to shape and polish the content. Scared to tackle this on your own? Reach out to us - we’re here to help.

Too strapped for time to post on LinkedIn? Try the interview method. It’s an efficient way to surface your best ideas. The EP team has conducted over 900 interviews with executives who want to boost their LinkedIn presence but don’t have the time to write posts themselves. But you don’t need a professional to run your interview. You can enlist the help of a colleague, friend, or spouse to ask you a few questions on the record. Here’s why we love the interview method: 1. No staring at a blank page. A blank page is intimidating. But with an engaged interviewer, ideas tend to flow naturally and effortlessly. 2. Deeper ideas. Open-ended questions in an interview can help you dive deep and articulate your thoughts better than if you were writing alone. 3. Power of interaction. Interaction boosts content quality. Even if your interviewer isn’t speaking much, their presence makes a huge difference. If you’re looking to streamline your content creation, interviews are a game-changer.

Ever wondered about the monetary value of a LinkedIn presence? One of our clients could have had a multi-million dollar opportunity… if only they’d been posting more frequently a few months before they started. Remember: it’s all about consistency and staying top of mind.

CEO @ Executive Presence | LinkedIn Top Voice | We turn leaders into thought leaders

Procrastinating on building a LinkedIn presence cost my client a multi-million dollar opportunity. Last month, I met with one of our clients who’s a general partner at a VC firm. She was lamenting the fact that she’d missed an opportunity to invest with a promising startup. The painful irony is that she could have had a shot. This VC just started posting on LinkedIn. These posts caused a 1st degree founder to reach out to her to catch up. He shared that he just raised his Series A and felt awful he didn’t think to reach out to her before signing. He hadn’t dismissed her firm; he’d simply forgotten about them. Our client realized if she had started posting on LinkedIn just a few months earlier, she might have been top of mind with the founder and included in this funding round. If you’re not top-of-mind with your network, you’re missing out on valuable opportunities.

There’s a right way and wrong way to recycle your LinkedIn content: Here’s a simple guide to make sure you do it right: 1. The 5-Month Rule. After 5 months, your audience likely won’t remember your content. Start by revisiting your best posts from 5+ months ago and give them a fresh spin. 2. Minor Edits (or Not). Reposting word-for-word is perfectly fine. If you prefer, tweak a few words, but don’t stress over major changes. 3. Reframe the Message. If a post resonates, find a new angle to convey the same message. You can turn 1 top-performing post into 5 if you get creative! Recycling content not only saves time but also amplifies your most impactful messages. Content creation is hard, but it doesn’t have to be excruciatingly difficult. By recycling your greatest content hits, you can maximize their impact.

Most executives are hesitant to recycle their content. They believe their audience has a photographic memory when it comes to their previous posts. Even worse, they worry that someone will call them out for having posted the content before. Time for a reality check. Your audience likes you, but they’re not obsessed with you. People are busy with their own lives. They’re not keeping close track of what you posted in the past. Plus, if you’re using LinkedIn correctly, your audience is growing. Someone who started following you today hasn’t seen your content from 3, 6, or 12 months ago. Lastly, your audience isn’t on LinkedIn every day. They don’t see every post that you publish, due to both their activity and LinkedIn’s algorithm. All this to say, start recycling your best-performing content. It will save you time and amplify the impact of your most popular posts.

The average CEO posts 4 times a year on LinkedIn about the same boring topics: - Their latest media appearance - A promotion for their company’s latest product or service - Generic team photos - A company milestone or anniversary (without additional context) This promotional content gets stale quickly. Plus, it doesn’t offer your audience much value. Here are 6 ideas for better LinkedIn content: 1. Stories that unpack business failures. Be real with us – tell us what went wrong. 2. Stories of personal growth. Tell us how you learned from a mistake or the most recent constructive feedback you’ve received. 3. Industry or career playbooks. Break down the steps of a business process or a professional pathway. 4. Your tactics in action. So show us the specific systems, practices, or exercises you use to elevate your work. 5. Contrarian perspectives. Disagree and tell us why. 6. Culture in action. Showcase stories about your company values and culture. So stop posting boring content that only serves yourself. Be a leader we can learn from.

Celebrating company milestones is great, but don’t forget to recognize the people behind the success. Instead of just sharing the achievement, give credit where credit is due. Think about everyone who played a part: Who led a successful project? Who executed the work? Who suggested a brilliant idea in the first place? If you’ve got too many team members to tag in one post, break it down by department. Acknowledge the stellar communications team, the powerhouse engineering group, or the unstoppable sales force. Where possible, tie their contributions back to your company values. Share stories that not only celebrate individual achievements but also demonstrate how these actions align with your team’s mission and culture. Shine a spotlight on the contributors. Their success is your success.
