World Breastfeeding Week is August 1-7, and for Good+, this means highlighting the vital role fathers play in supporting breastfeeding and enhancing family well-being. Studies show that father involvement significantly improves breastfeeding outcomes for nursing mothers and their babies. When fathers contribute by providing nutritious food, creating a supportive breastfeeding environment, and sharing household responsibilities, they can significantly increase their child's likelihood of breastfeeding beyond eight weeks. At Good+, 69% of grantee partners offer breastfeeding education, and all actively engage fathers to benefit families. Through these efforts, Good+ is dedicated to supporting fathers to become better informed caregivers, and reinforcing their essential role in enhancing family well-being. Good+Foundation is thrilled to welcome the addition of 6 new program partners this year so far in NYC and LA, encompassing three fatherhood programs, one co-parenting initiative, and two comprehensive family service programs! At Good+, we strategically collaborate with more than regular 80 grantee partners that meet our rigorous criteria, focusing on the intentional engagement of fathers and father-figures, commitment to long-term family support, and a two-generation approach to providing family services. These new partners join a dedicated network of organizations aimed at breaking the cycle of multigenerational poverty. They receive product donations from Good+ to incentivize family participation in programming, access to Family Cash Grants for enrolled families, and participate in shared learning opportunities with fellow partners. With these additions, we continue to strengthen our community impact by addressing the comprehensive needs of families living on low incomes, and setting them up for long-term success. Donations of essential baby items are crucial for families facing financial challenges. As 96% of our program families live at or below the poverty level, these contributions greatly alleviate the financial burden and stress related to having limited access to these resources. Thanks to UPPAbaby's generous contribution of 150 strollers, 100 playards, and 100 diaper backpacks, we can continue providing these items to under-resourced families across NYC and LA.
