This August, in recognition of National Wellness Month, I want to share that here at Great Wolf Lodge, we believe we have an obligation to advance the mental well-being and overall health of our 12,000+ Pack members, both in our Lodges and on our Corporate Support Teams. At the beginning of the year, we appointed a Chief Wellness Officer, Dr. Romie Mushtaq, MD, ABIHM, to create a data-driven, customized solution to actively promote whole-person wellness for our Pack throughout the year. With Dr. Romie's expertise as a Board-Certified Physician in Neurology and Integrative Medicine, we are committed to focusing on three crucial areas: mental well-being, healthy habits, and caring/trust.  By prioritizing whole-person wellness, we endeavor to help our Pack Members be the best version of themselves, reaching their full potential; in turn, we know they will do amazing work in helping us deliver on our mission of “Bringing Joy to Families” here at the Wolf. Together, we are Strengthening our Pack by creating an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work and thrive. We are proud of the strides we’ve made and excited for the future as we continue to invest in the wellness of our dedicated team. #PackWellness #GreatWolfLodge #NationalWellnessMonth

Pack Member safety is a fundamental element of our wellness program at Great Wolf Lodge. In recognition of National Wellness Month, we’re highlighting just a few of the safety initiatives that our Risk, Safety, and Compliance teams have been developing:  • A new hydration initiative created by our Chief Wellness Officer, Dr. Romie Mushtaq, to enhance Great Wolf's Heat Safety Program • An ergonomics initiative to help maintain physical wellness in the workplace, featuring office enhancements and activities designed to benefit pack health • We’ve established a Safety Committee featuring Pack Members from all our lodges to come together once a month, discuss important safety topics, initiatives, and training tools to help keep our guests and pack safe. Thanks to the hard work of our Pack Members, we’re creating a safer and healthier environment in which all employees can thrive. #GreatWolfLodge #Wellness

This summer, we welcomed eight students who joined us in Chicago from schools across the country for Great Wolf Lodge’s corporate internship program. They worked directly with teams in their fields of interest, and engaged in hands-on experiences with real-life projects and work. In addition to meaningful assignments and working in a supportive business environment, they had the opportunity to participate in activities that broadened their knowledge and experience. These included a lodge visit, Great Wolf’s “lunch and learn” events, social activities, and more. While most of them are ending their internship today, we’re so proud of each and every one of them for coming on this journey with us, and we wish them the best of luck in all future endeavors.

We’re celebrating National Intern Day by recognizing our extraordinary Summer Hospitality Interns. Upon joining our pack, all 81 interns were assigned a challenging project that would give them genuine hands-on experience in the hospitality and entertainment industry. Some worked individually, others in a group, but they all dedicated themselves to researching and preparing innovative solutions to the assigned challenges.   This week, our interns had the opportunity to present their final projects to their lodge leadership team. The results were impressive, demonstrating an admirable work ethic and enthusiastic commitment to strengthening the pack. We are incredibly proud of each of them. #internship #hospitality #nationalinternday

Love Your Lodge is our way of celebrating Pack Members who have made a career at Great Wolf Lodge. Today, we’re featuring Chris Farlow, Assistant Director of Engineering at Great Wolf Lodge Sandusky, and a Pack Member for more than 17 years. 1. What do you love about working at Great Wolf Lodge? I love the people! From my fellow Pack Members to our guests coming to enjoy the lodge and create family memories, they’re what make work such a positive and gratifying part of my life. 2. What’s a way that you get to help out other Packs or other Pack Members working at Great Wolf? I have been fortunate enough to travel to seven of our lodges to provide all levels of support. From opening new properties, to training new managers and staff, to working in day-to-day operations, I’ve done it. Now, I’m also able to provide support via virtual training that allows me to reach our entire family of lodges. 3. What’s a personal or unique aspect of your lodge that makes it fun to work at? In recent years, Sandusky has become home to large indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Having the teams visit the lodge to unwind and bond together as a group—it’s fun to be a part of that!

Last week, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of our Maryland lodge. In honor of the milestone, we welcomed back celebrity chef Duff Goldman, who designed a massive birthday cake and invited guests to participate in a “cake smash” to mark the occasion. Goldman created the original grand opening cake for our Perryville, MD lodge, and also designed limited-edition cupcakes based on our Great Wolf Pack animated characters. We’re honored to have him and his family return to celebrate the success of our Maryland lodge’s first year of operation: Congrats to all the Pack Members who made it happen!
