Hepatitis Awareness Week is dedicated to increasing public knowledge of this chronic liver disease. An inflammation usually caused by a viral infection, hepatitis can cause liver damage and lead to other health issues. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), an estimated 2.4 million Americans have the Hepatitis C virus (HCV), the most acute form.
