Beneath the Surface: A Day in the Life of a Geothermal Driller Step into the world of geothermal drilling as we venture to Rig 492 in Milford, Utah. Our drillers not only conquer the hard granite but also safeguard the entire crew. Geothermal drilling has a different set of challenges from drilling in the soft shale of Oklahoma. WE ARE H&P! Half the crew of Rig 492 recently stopped by H&P headquarters as part of Rig Floor Automation Training. Members of this team are already seasoned professionals having used the Rig Floor Automation package for some time now. Instead of full training, they spent time sharing their experiences with the technology and collaborating with the teams in Tulsa. This type of refresher brings field expertise back to our corporate teams and helps us be a better H&P.

The crew rigged up on a pad to drill three wells and their first well set a footage record for the customer from drill out to TD. Their next well on the pad BEAT that record by 267 feet. This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork and continuous communication. Congratulations to the crews – that’s how we flex 💪.
