#ProjectProfile Gorgeous views, abundant wildlife, and recreational opportunities can be found along the steep, wooded bluffs along the Mississippi River Valley. Hooper's Electric Power Division is partnering with Xcel Energy to rebuild 6.6 miles of a 69kV Transmission Line in the area. Several pole structures on this line were built in the 1940's and are well past their expected life. 50 H-frame structures will be replaced and 6.6 miles of three-phase conductor and two shield wires. The elevation of the bluffs, which rise 1200 feet in some areas, limited vehicle access, and environmental concerns make this a challenging project. Because of the difficult access, crews are unable to use standard equipment and crews are hand-digging many of the holes. Hooper has also employed two helicopters to assist with removing old structures and installing new H-frames. This project is expected to be completed in late September. Hooper's ingenuity and experience will save a million dollars in access development and foundation building costs. #electricpower #transmissionlines #HooperCorp
