Your life based on your A, C, T, & Gs? Not a far off reality if you've seen the 1997 movie, GATTACA. The movie brings up an important note: how genetic technology and genetic information used in our society. Listen to Tiny Expeditions Season 5, Episode 4, “Designing Destiny: Ethics of Genetic Engineering,” to learn about the ethical, social, and legal ramifications of using our genetic makeup to re-engineer ourselves and the world around us: https://lnkd.in/gjKUgZSf #podcast #genetic #engineering #biology #geneticmakeup

#FlashbackFriday on this #InternationalBeerDay to an incredible event hosted by HudsonAlpha at Stovehouse! Craft beer enthusiasts and scientists gathered for the “Cheers to Alabama Barley” tap takeover event earlier this summer, where attendees enjoyed craft beer made with locally-grown barley and learned the science behind brewing. The event showcased a collaborative effort to boost Alabama’s brewing industry and create an economic pipeline for the state. The event featured beers from Brewers Cooperative, Cahaba Brewing Company, Goodland Pour House, and more, highlighting the potential of barley as a profitable winter crop alternative in the southeastern U.S. Cheers to Alabama Barley was made possible by a statewide project funded by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, with collaborators from HudsonAlpha, Auburn University, and Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. Together, we’re helping local farmers and brewers create a sustainable future for Alabama’s brewing industry. Celebrate #InternationalBeerDay by raising a glass to local innovation and sustainability!
