Strategic Comms Leader | Certified Mgt Consultant | Story Teller | Relationship Mgr | Non-Technical Risk Assessor & Mgr | Coach
This afternoon, I had the incredible opportunity to feature as a panellist, alongside Mia Azam, in the third webinar in the IABC Africa Region series "The Road to Communication Excellence" where we discussed “Goals and SMART objectives: Developing a global standard solution”. The Session was moderated by veteran Communication Strategist, Theresa Lee and was well attended by colleagues from across the continent and beyond. In today’s fast-paced business environment, clear communication is more vital than ever. Setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound objectives ensures that teams stay aligned, motivated, and focused on achieving their targets. During the webinar, we explored practical strategies for implementing these principles to drive organizational success. Connecting with fellow professionals and exchanging insights on how effective communication can transform businesses was inspiring. A big thank you to IABC for hosting such a valuable session! #IABC #IABCAfrica #IABCWAIG #CommunicationGoals #SMARTObjectives #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment

Regional Chair, IABC Asia Pacific. Former CEO now sharing his skills and knowledge as an educator, strategist, and trainer.
It’s official. I’m IABC APAC Region's new Chair. I’m on a mission, and I need your help. Effective communication is essential for organisations to achieve their goals. Professional communicators are vital in efficient, effective organisations, and in turn, those organisations are crucial elements of civil society. Our specialised skills are valuable and based on extensive theory and practice. However, too few people recognise the important role of professional communication, and too few professional communicators fully appreciate the significant and positive impact they have on organisations and the lives of billions of people. It’s not in our nature to boast about our work, and professional communicators know that actions speak louder than words. My vision is an organisation that demonstrates the power of communication by empowering our members through unique professional development experiences and networking opportunities that showcase how communication can help others. Great communicators share their skills, knowledge, time, and experience generously. In return, they—and our industry sector—gain much more than they give. I want IABC members to be proud and understand that their significant investment in membership stands for something important. How can you help? If you share my vision and want to join thousands of other great communicators in this Asia Pacific and global effort, please let me or any of our amazing volunteer leaders know. Anybody else notice how some of life’s most profound lessons seem to be the most obvious ones? 🤔 For me, those obvious lightbulb moments are also the recurring ones. Whether life or work related, there are some lessons that I need to learn over and over (and over) again. People. That’s the lesson this time. It was also the lesson last time. Because Principles won the Gold Quill award for Small Agency of the Year, I had the opportunity to guest author an article for IABC's publication, Catalyst. So that's what I wrote about. Maybe you want to read it?

“You can’t mythbust people out of a rabbit hole” 🐇 There were some interesting outtakes at this evening’s “Understanding Disinformation” IABC event hosted by Momentum Consulting Group in Auckland. I really enjoyed listening to Nicole S. from the The Disinformation Project talk about what all disinformation has in common and what we can do about it. Disinformation is an incredibly complex topic that continues to proliferate and evolve, and Nicole did an excellent job of keeping to time and sharing really interesting facts. Ngā mihi nui to Kate Williams for hosting us.
