🎶 We'd like to take a moment to honor the many contributions made by master cellist John Walz to the Idyllwild Arts Academy! For 60 years, John has graced us with amazing performances as a celebrated soloist and chamber music artist, and inspired generations of musicians, A student of the legendary Pierre Fournier, John has graced stages with over 150 symphony orchestras across four continents, showcasing both standard and rare concertos. As the founder of the renowned Pacific Trio, John has dazzled countless worldwide audiences. A generous patron of Idyllwild Arts, John also funded the construction of the campus tennis courts. Thank you, John, for everything you've done for our community and we wish you well in your next chapter! 🎻✨

🌟Idyllwild Arts is proud of our partnership with Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and extends our congratulations to the tribe for receiving the honor of World’s Greatest Places 2024 by Time.com. On April 11, seventy five of our students visited the Agua Caliente Cultural Center in downtown Palm Springs to further their in-depth study of Cahuilla history and culture following the completion of Cahuilla curriculum in Humanities classes. 🎉 It's time for an Alumni Spotlight! 🎉 Congrats to Hannah Shaver, IAA Dramatic Arts '14, for her recent win of THREE Emmys as a News Promotions Producer! 🏆🏆🏆 Hannah's award-winning segments “Troubled Waters: Colorado River Series,” “Tropical Storm Hillary,” and “Who Cares About the Caregiver?” have captivated audiences with their powerful storytelling. Born and raised in the Coachella Valley, Hannah's journey started at Idyllwild Arts, where she learned from Howard Shangraw about creating original content. 🎭 This experience has been crucial in her career at KESQ News Channel 3, an ABC affiliate in the Coachella Valley. 📺 After Idyllwild Arts, Hannah attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, drawn by their excellent original works program, and double majored in acting and original works. 🎓 Her role as an RA at Cornish mirrored her experience as a prefect at Idyllwild. The pandemic inspired Hannah to pivot from stage to digital storytelling, and now, as a Promotions Producer, she crafts captivating teasers that highlight news stories. 🎥 Her work involves creating graphic design elements, soundbites, and artistic shots to engage viewers and emphasize the importance of each story. 🎨🎬 From Hannah: "I just love Idyllwild. I would not be the person that I am today or the artist that I am today if it wasn’t for Idyllwild. I am eternally grateful." We're incredibly proud of you, Hannah! The 30th and final Jazz In The Pines Festival wrapped up this past Saturday, and we're now left to reflect with heartfelt gratitude on three decades of unforgettable jazz. Though we bid farewell to this cherished event, we look forward with optimism as we entrust the future to the educators and performers of The Jazz In The Pines Student Clinic, whose dedication ensures that this beloved art form will continue to thrive for years to come. 🎷🎶❤️ This year the festival culminated in remarkable performances by some of the world's finest jazz artists, including founder of Jazz In The Pines Marshall Hawkins Seahawk MoJO; Grammy award-winning John Daversa Big Band with "Kaleidoscope Eyes: The Music of the Beatles"; the Idyllwild Jazz Faculty Big Band Concert; a sold-out performance of the Rose Colella Quartet at The Merc; and the inspiring Jazz in the Pines Student Showcase. We extend our deepest thanks to all the incredible jazz enthusiasts who made this event a cornerstone of the Idyllwild community over the past 30 years, and to the many musicians, both teachers and students, who traveled from near and far to share their extraordinary talent and passion for jazz. 🌟🎺🌍 This year's festival was dedicated to the memory of the legendary guitarist Bob Boss, a beacon in the jazz world.
