About us
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries. We utilize and leverage our products and services—as well as products and services of other institutions in the World Bank Group—to provide development solutions customized to meet clients’ needs. We apply our financial resources, technical expertise, global experience, and innovative thinking to help our partners overcome financial, operational, and political challenges. Clients view IFC as a provider and mobilizer of scarce capital, knowledge, and long-term partnerships that can help address critical constraints in areas such as finance, infrastructure, employee skills, and the regulatory environment. IFC is also a leading mobilizer of third-party resources for its projects. Our willingness to engage in difficult environments and our leadership in crowding-in private finance enable us to extend our footprint and have a development impact well beyond our direct resources. IFC is committed to tackling food security challenges and empowering communities. Through our agribusiness projects, we're investing in sustainable farming practices, increasing access to markets, and supporting smallholder farmers. In FY24 our work made a significant impact. By empowering farmers and strengthening food systems, we helped boost food and nutrition security for 6.5 million people. This translates to greater access to nutritious food, improved livelihoods, and a more stable future for communities around the world. #IFCimpact

We're seeking talented Ph.D. candidates and recent graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa for a transformative 6-month experience. This program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world development projects and gain invaluable international experience. Since its launch, we've seen Fellows go on to make significant impacts in our organization and beyond, and their contributions have been instrumental in shaping our work across various sectors. I enjoyed the opportunity to engage with finance ministers and central bank governors from across #Africa and with governors from the International Monetary Fund and The World Bank Group last week at the African Caucus Meeting in Nigeria. Conversations centered on strategic solutions for facilitating and deepening intra-African trade. The meeting also featured discussions on ensuring the African Continental Free Trade Area (#AfCFTA) functions effectively and delivers on its promise of supporting growth and opportunity across the continent. IFC - International Finance Corporation is supporting African trade by providing trade financing and investing in businesses on the continent to help them reach new and larger markets. Also, we had rich brainstorming sessions on how to unlock access to private sector financing for startups and digital technology to facilitate trade and regional integration in Africa. Along with my colleagues from the World Bank, we also discussed how African countries can leverage ‘Mission 300’, which is a World Bank Group and African Development Bank Group (AfDB) initiative to connect 300 million Africans to sustainable electricity by 2030. #IntraAfricaTrade #AfCFTA #IFCAfrica #RegionalIntegration
