A huge thank you to our Alameda Health System security team! After discovering a lighter on a patient during the screening process and informing the individual that lighters are not allowed in the facility, the person left and set two trash cans on fire outside. Thanks to the quick actions of our Officers, who noticed the smoke and communicated the situation over the radio, they were able to promptly extinguish the fires with the help of AHS EVS. Law enforcement was contacted, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department swiftly responded, leading to the suspect's arrest. We commend our Officers for their valiant efforts in preventing damage and for their prompt reporting, which ensured the safety of everyone. As the school year begins, it's important to keep safety at the forefront. Here are a few tips to help ensure a safe and smooth transition back to school: 1. Ensure your child knows their bus route and schedule. 2. Teach your child to always use a crosswalk and look both ways before crossing the street. 3. Discuss internet safety and the importance of not sharing personal information online. 4. Remind your child about good hygiene practices, like handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes. 5. As we gear up for National Night Out, let's make sure we keep safety a top priority. Here are some tips to ensure a fun and secure evening for all: 1. Stay aware: keep an eye on your surroundings and report any suspicious activity. 2. Use the buddy system. 3. Carry a flashlight if you’ll be out after dark. 4. Secure your home before heading out to join the festivities. 5. Stay hydrated and keep an eye on kids to prevent overheating. 6. Traffic safety: be cautious when crossing streets. 7. Designate a family meeting spot in case you get separated from your group. 8. Introduce yourself to your neighbors and exchange contact info for added security.
