The IRS Criminal Investigation Atlanta Field Office recently held their yearly Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program in Trussville, Alabama. The goal of CPE is not only to help IRS-CI professionals stay knowledgeable but also to improve their competence and effectiveness in their roles, ultimately benefiting the American public. As such, the recent Atlanta Field Office CPE included condensed training and educational opportunities for field office personnel to maintain and enhance skills relevant to their job duties.   During the Atlanta Field Office’s CPE, special agents and professional staff courses included, but were not limited to, virtual reality-based use of force scenario training, asset forfeiture, Use of Force training, evidence from IP addresses, and abusive schemes. CI’s Deputy Chief Shea Jones also visited the CPE to speak with personnel. Additionally, with assistance from Samford University's and The University of Alabama's Departments of Theatre and Dance, CPE coordinators were able to create an investigation-themed escape room as a team building exercise for personnel whose duty stations span the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  #irsci #IRSCIAtlanta #IRSCI

⚡ Just in: Tara Sullivan, our Director of Field Operations for the West Region, introduced attendees of the Taxprolatincon in Las Vegas today to our agency, including who we are and what we do, our financial investigation stats and how tax preparers are critical partners in curbing tax crimes. Educating tax preparers is a key component of our non-investigative activities to curb tax and other financial crimes. Tax preparers are often able to recognize when a preparer might be intentionally filing a false tax return. #WhatWeDoCounts #IRSCI
