CAUTION: Universes in mirrors may seem closer than they appear…🔭 Using novel measurement techniques, we polished one of the largest convex mirrors ever made, which will help push scientific frontiers and chart our Universe like never before!
We’re thrilled to announce the successful installation of a 11-foot-wide, 1,500-pound glass mirror onto Rubin Observatory on Cerro Pachón in Chile. Capping 20-years of collaboration with Rubin Observatory and L3Harris Technologies, a skilled team from Corning Advanced Optic’s Canton plant manufactured the cutting-edge blank from Corning® ULE® Glass (Ultra-Low Expansion Glass). This technological wonder will provide the deepest view of the universe to date.
