Below is a simplified demo I put together using Labelbox to show how analysts might have used satellite imagery from SkyFi to estimate Tesla's unsold inventory of cars a couple of months back (ref - https://lnkd.in/g6gaGd5f). Using an existing experiment model in Labelbox, I estimated that airports on an avg. have between 8 to 10 flights parked at any time of the day. The model had an accuracy of 92% for airplanes, but not so much for other objects detected. Understandably so because of its larger size and distinct shape that can be more easily detected by models. While the cost of satellite imagery has come down considerably in recent years, running large-scale analytics on it has remained largely cost-prohibitive for most organizations except government, military and hedge funds/private-equity.
